Not much time to breath as the build up for the Chinese Grand Prix has already begun. I think there were a few positives to draw from the Bahrain weekend. At least it won't be a Merc walk-over as the Ferrari appears genuinely fast and also the Red Bull is not far off. Can we finally see a three way team fight? The midfield is also very close (although too far from the leaders) but we could see some good racing there. It will be interesting to see if Toro Rosso-Honda can continue this upwards movement. And how long will it take before we actually see the last two rows of the grid with two Williams and two McLaren cars? Ouch...

And how long will it take before we actually see the last two rows of the grid with two Williams and two McLaren cars? Ouch... I kept half an eye open on the race last Sunday as it was transmitted live by UK's Channel 4, the MotoGP meeting took priority on the computer. However I must admit to being massively impressed with Toro Rosso Honda and young M. Gasly; also although it went largely unnoticed NZ's Brendon Hartley drove really well from a very compromised beginning. Honda certainly shut up some of its critics and after reading Mark Hughes report on MS there was a wonderful moment when after pit stops Gasly was catching Teflonso rapidly. As the two cars closed McLaren pulled its car back into the pits to avoid seeing the TR Honda blow past. Can you imagine Teflonso's reaction to that . Had another laugh after the race when Ferrari's ex Marlboro man commented that it was an exciting race, what bloody planet do these clowns actually live on .

JC, I am glad to read you could at least see a few positives in the Bahrain events! Young Gasly and TR Honda did an excellent job and as you mentioned, also Hartley had a good race. As far the excitement goes, it wasn't all bad in my view. The last part with Bottas closing in was exciting, although it would have been more exciting had it been Hamilton or one of the Red Bull boys. Valtteri does not seem to be a killer. And Vettel did an outstanding job keeping his tyres alive, that was a world class drive I think. And hey, you must know that Marlboro man's world is not a real world, it's all make believe!

I never watch post-race nonsense these days. Who is the Marlboro man?

I never watch post-race nonsense these days. Who is the Marlboro man? Carl, Maurizio Arrivabene worked for Marlboro before he was appointed as Ferrari team principal.

Judging by the smoke that emanates from the Ferrari Pit Boxes just before the cars head out on track I am minded to believe that maybe Marlboro have not relinquished their sponsorship of the Scuderia.

Haha, that is a good one! I am delighted to hear that. Apparently they have even installed extractor fans to remove the smog, I am sorry René but F1 is becoming even more ridiculous as the days go by.

well we go back to highlighted ? as opposed to live ?- do you know I could draw in my head a rough sketch of the Nurburgring or even Malaysia but I have no idea what the Chinese circuit looks like,
I have voted for Bottas, i can't deny he has been a disappointment in relative terms or Lewis is that much better than most others, I'm not sure, I do know that Nico Rosberg's reputation has increased and Bottas's hasn't, well maybe this race he can restore a bit of pride,
get the feeling Lewis will retire at the end of the year
McLaren with their new management structure will, of course, start winning now... ow, Honda generally makes very good engines, from the transverse V12 1.5 ltr and a few 'interesting' engines, the V12 3 ltr far too heavy but the V8 tragically etc etc, so when McLaren went to Renault it just felt wrong and two races in - it still feels wrong, but not as bad as Williams, as the Russian chap said- to outsiders we look stupid, after a pause, I think,"we agree" you do look stupid,
as an ex-smoker my one abiding memory was of course Keke at Silverstone before 'that lap' throwing the fag away and roaring off to legend .

Chris, I share your like of Valtteri Bottas, but have changed my vote to Raikkonen because of concern my voting may have brought bad luck so far to Bottas. He deserves to do well and I hope your vote brings victory. I smoked Camel regulars (non-filter) and quitting wasn't easy. Someone once said that a cigarette was a friend when you're alone and I do feel almost as though I'm encountering an old friend whenever I see a pack on display. Even so, I have no desire to renew that friendship. Cheers, Carl

Carl, although I was a black and gold Lotus man I didn't like their taste so was a B+H smoker, but when you look back Carl, i smoked from 12 to about 35 then stopped to about 50 and smoked again for 5 years and then had the most terrible time getting back off them, so as you say, they may have been a friend but like you I have no desire to renew that kinship

I still get the urge to start smoking again whenever I smell the original Camel cigs. I stopped smoking on 31 May 1990 at 1730 and the craving is still strong sometimes. I have to keep reminding myself that the craving for a fag is awful especially when you cannot just light up anywhere these days and that keeps me clean. At the end I smoked Chesterfield with the odd Camel pack thrown in.

Smoked till my 40th so I quit 13 years ago. Glad I did and I (luckely) don't feel the urge anymore. But of course I do remember it could be nice... I was a Marlboro man...
