Well said.
This is, unfortunately, one of the major reasons why the Autosport forum is such a repulsive place, and why i abandoned racing forums for several years. Far too many people merely gave a vile glee in the misfortunes of whichever driver attracts their ire (predominantly Vettel, whose major crime as far as i can see is to have been successful when forum goers seem to have thought it should have been Hamilton or Alonso... but there are others too).

I take no pleasure in misfortune, but confess to satisfaction when inflated egos deflate in any arena. What I love most about racing are the displays of great skill, through a season or in a single pass, which I try, often without success, to separate from the individual. Without any favorites, I look for the most worthy winner and enjoy the unlikely success of underdogs when it happens.
The practice of celebrity strikes me as a waste of time, true greatness not needing press agents.
