Number two of the so-called triple-header and the home race for Red Bull. Was it the engine upgrade or was it more tyre/circuit characteristics that gave Mercedes the edge over Ferrari? The race at Spielberg will surely give us the answer. At least no 'vertigo' paintings this time! And poor Max and Daniel will probably have to show up in Lederhosen again!

That makes Max look more like a schoolboy than ever . Goodness I can't even remember who won last year, all I can recall is the Rosberg/Hamilton fiasco, Oh! wasn't last year the scene of the infamous none jump start of Mr Bottas. Probably be a Mighty Hamilton win as MB have now served the interest of the Rights Holder .

Daniel and Max, coerced into lederhosen, are clearly embarrassed posing as Dieter's darlings. Besides looking silly, their legs suggest they must have power-assisted brakes. Others look much better... Attachment Deleted

Your candor is refreshing! No-one has an idea...
And still no prizes, despite reliable reports of flip flops!!

They do have awfully skinny legs, though I am hardly one to talk. I do wonder how they manage to put enough pressure on the brake pedal though apparently their physical training is such that the trainers try to maximise muscle power without increasing muscle mass. A human version of tyre warmers with regard to F1s constant search for technical excellence in everything they touch.
I will go for Vettel with Bottas second.

Quite frankly the idiot who thought up the idea of dressing those two boys up in that attire should be taken out and shot! Have you ever seen two lads look so uncomfortable or ill at ease, at least when JYS is in his kilt it looks natural.
I wonder if these training and dietary methods used for modern day motor sports persons will have a detrimental effect upon them in later life?

I think Hamilton will take this one but I’d be happy with a Ricciardo win.... Always look forward to Austria as I like the backdrop 👍

the scenery is magnificent and the thing that strikes me is just how clean it is, living in parts of England where folk haven't discovered waste bins as yet it really is such an eye opener in places like Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and then there are the roads...
Didn't whatshisname red bull boss say he wanted the circuit to re-incorporate some of the classic and classy circuit?

Quite frankly the idiot who thought up the idea of dressing those two boys up in that attire should be taken out and shot! Brilliant! Rene, You are the creator and administrator of this resplendent website and might feel differently if you had lederhosen to award to those who predict race winners. It takes a brave man to wear a kilt outside of the United Kingdom, and lederhosen anywhere, and such bravery is often ridiculed. One theory, widely lampooned by historians, is that the belligerence of Scots and Germans is a response to the attendant trauma.
Jamie is correct to say, and most of us would agree, that Hamilton, having the fastest car, will probably win. What all of us would enjoy is both Ferrari and Red Bull drivers having cars equal to Mercedes and thus an honest chance. In that event, Lewis might wear out his radio complaining.
Cheers, Carl

Just a quick thought. How do they distinguish between ladies and gents public toilet signs in Scotland?

They do have awfully skinny legs ...
I recall that in Jackie Stewart's book "Principles of Performance Driving" there is a large photo of Niki Lauda sitting in a deck chair in just a pair of shorts, enjoying the sun. The figure caption says something like (after memory, not verbatim), "although Niki Lauda may look fragile, his long, slender muscular structures are actually ideally suited for the demands of formula one driving".
I guess it's a bit like the muscular structure of an elite marathon runner vs. that of a (say, 100m) sprinter. The sprinters look like bodybuilders while the marathon runners look almost malnourished.
Very similar to the marathon runner, the F1 driver also needs to do the same movements again and again, for about 1 and 1/2 hour. ------------------------------------ Edit: The correct figure caption text is as follows (Stewart 1986, p. 96): Niki Lauda ... may appear slightly built, but his long and slender muscle structure is ideally suited to the demanding role of a sportsman.
