I had intended making a thread with many old portrait photos of drivers both great and favourites but unfortunately I am unable to get Dropbox to work with our delightful site here. So as some consolation I have decided to kick it off with a shot i personally took of Ayrton Senna at the tyre tests prior to the British GP in 1987, in monochrome which adds to the atmospherics. I have millions guys but found this one quite by chance in a box of photos that came to hand an hour ago. Attachment Deleted

I watched a bit of the film "Senna" over the weekend and found Senna's interviews quite a bit disturbing, he was talking about politics from the moment he set foot in F1 (even before, to tell the truth), in particular after the 1984 Monaco GP. I found quite disturbing his insinuation about Jacky Ickx was a stooge for Balestre.
I was surprised I disliked him so much, as at the time - although I wasn't a fan - I didn't have the same feeling. I had all long along this sensation that it was only ego, HUGE and massive, no grace and sporting behaviour.

Now I appear to have sussed out the whole business of image hosting and uploading I will continue with my original intention of posting portraits of drivers that were greats; should have been great and simply favourites of mine, none of the attached are my own incidentally. Feel free to add your own gentlemen as this has some potential.

Just to even things up with my original post, here is a photo I took of Alain Prost during Tyre Testing at Silverstone prior to the 1988 GP. Attachment Deleted

Wonderful photographs, each demonstrating that "a picture is worth a thousand words." Time for me now to shut up.

Wonderful photos JC.....its easy to see how you made it as a pro 👍 This will be a great thread. To kick off my own contribution, here is one of my favourites of Jim (also my avatar). Its easy to see how Graham Hill said he'd 'miss Jimmy's smile'.... Attachment Deleted

wonderful photo's chaps,
Jimmy of course's is brilliant and on Facebook there are so many photo's of Jimmy I have never seem before, some I have, the massively expensive book [co-written in German] has some wonderful photos of Jimmy - including one in his back garden with a picnic - beautiful,
I always found Jochen interesting and a terrible loss, but I liked Seppi, both tragically taken from us needlessly -

Thanks Jamie, I should have made much more of it at the time, but wasn't really pushy enough as a personality in what was a pretty cut throat business. Jim's was an amazing smile, quite befitting the greatest driver there has ever been.

Excellent, really pleased that you like the image. It has never been used commercially, one of thousands I have taken over the years that are filled away. I am actually pleased that this forum of ours allows me to have others see some of my past work. I will get the Group C Silk Cut Jaguar up later on .
