That is a beautiful photo Valentin. I have never seen this one before and the quality of the picture brings it so near by.

It is made before first practice at Nurburgring 1953 Valentin are you sure it is 1953? The car looks like a Lancia D50 to me and surely that was later than 1953.

Last night I spent a pleasurable hour looking and downloading some superb images on a site I came upon via Pinterest, I would like to post them all but will settle for this stunning B&W shot of Graham Hill and Colin Chapman. Graham looks wickedly devilish and is in his pomp; Colin on the reverse looks deep in thought :-

Great atmosphere. Is it 1968? Judging from the high wing where Graham's helmet is on...

Great atmosphere. Is it 1968? Judging from the high wing where Graham's helmet is on... Definitely 1968, and I would say late season as the high wing has the actuators on it which feathered the aerofoil on the straights. Maybe that is why graham has that very amused look upon his face .

I didn’t realise they were actuators, I just thought they were wing supports......you learn something new every day. Obviously this was way before the need arose to ban ‘moveable’ aerodynamic devices.

Jamie, In actual fact they broke in the Mexican GP and Graham ran most of the race with them in the "downforce" position. Not that it hindered him any as he won and hence the World Championship. JC
