sorry Carl, just awoken from my slumbers, best version of a sand-sleep- dance has to be Top Hat, and the wonderful Ginger response the next morning is one of my favourite sayings: when asked how did you sleep? Ginger with that wonderul irked expression responded: "I slept well enough, just not long enough" pure class Chris,
I neither knew or cared at the time, but both Fred Astaire and Edward Everett Horton were neighbors in the San Fernando Valley when I was a boy, the former gracefully on a horse ranch in the west valley and the latter on a nice property in the mid-valley. Where Astaire's horses once cantered and danced are now apartments and condominiums and Horton's idyllic backyard is now the 101 freeway, the only reminder a street sign where his front yard had been.
I never cared for Ginger Rogers, which may explain both her irked expression and why she lived elsewhere, whereas Leslie Caron had a standing invitation but was too shy to accept. Comme c'est adorable! Sigh... Cheers, Carl

wow- just wow - Carl!! words escape me, Fred is one of my all time favourites, and generally I do a re-run of his 1930's films at least once every two years and the wonderful Edward E H - brilliant, now Ging, with Fred - excellent, and my favourite of all his partners but her personality [and her Mother's] was not my cup of tea, but as a trouper with Fred sheer magic-
aww the gorgeous Leslie Caron, another beauty and lovely lady

Gentleman, to all of you, what an honour it really is to be a part of such a wonderful collection of excellent fellows- merci John, Abaraxas was one of the first albums I ever bought and still enjoy the CD version, he was just so impressive on his debut at Woodstock, and many years later at the Albert Hall, he really could make that guitar sing, Peter Green, Rory and Paul Kossof were amongst my favourite guitarists and I still listen to them to this day, in fact last year i went to see the lead singer of the backstreet boys with a Paul soundalike playing their stuff, pretty good but not quite as good as the Free stuff Carl, films have been my great escape, from Prisoner of Zenda, Robin Hood, the Thin Man, Mr Deeds goes to Town, 39 Steps, Scarlet Pimpernell, gosh so so many, the great comedies, Bringing up Baby, my Man Godfrey, the Awful Truth, and then there's the 40's/50's the great noir films, favourite being Murder my Sweet, with another favourite - and of course the great westerns, Shane and High Noon, but I am also an avid fan of International cinema, and the French tend to top this list, the difference being I like their films from the 1930's onwards and still feel they do the best crime films, Tell No One is a sheer classic, so many, really need to update my list of films, Coop was always my favourite but the likes of Ronald Colman, Leslie Howard, William Powell and Dick Powell, were up there, along with Errol, Cary but ladies wise Irene Dunne and Jean Arthur headed my hit parade, but i do have a real weak spot for French actresses, gorgeous.... Chris, I’m no international film aficionado per se but one film you mentioned there really stood out....Tell No One. My wife has a friend who was brought up in France and she recommended this to us; what a brilliant film, would be right up there on my list of favourites.

Chris, I recently saw the entire Murder My Sweet and Dick Powell is an amazing Philip Marlowe! He had to change studios twice to be allowed to escape song and dance roles, and proved that he's a fine actor.
"I want you to find my Velma!"
Cheers, Carl

Rene, Do Table Rules allow sabbaticals? Did John Charles have consent to take one? According to possibly reliable witnesses, he's been seen, in a clever circumvention of table neutrality, giving counsel to Claire Williams about many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings
Why Bahrain is so damn hot-- the best designs for wings
Why Paddy Lowe was all for naught--
what miracles her dad could bring
As Melbourne nears with dangers fraught, Claire wants her handsome juggernaut

This meeting of the Hesitant to Comment Society has been adjourned without comment due to time limits established by extra sensory perception, and members are quietly trying various doors to determine which may lead to the parking area, the proposal to install exit signs having been tabled in favor of indefinite hesitation.

Yes Carl I agree, it has been too long since we had a full table debate and daily updates at RRT. Where has everybody gone? I guess it's the end of the racing season depression!

a good question Carl and Rene, the end of the year is always a poignant time it is also the end for lot of series, however F1 rattles on and Texas provides an interesting round, and for my beloved bikes and living in hope someone will beat Marquez and we get a decider on Moto2 in the sweltering heat of Malaysia, for me its coming to the end of this years motorbike riding days and golf is becoming far too wet and cold so - a time to brace up for winter arghhh
maybe an update on how everyone else is may help?
also as I am taking a break from the day job I will hunt through the back catalogue of awful photo's especially the ones at Le Mans and maybe those of you who can post a few more rather better photos for our entertainment might be appreciated?
