A thread dedicated to the sheer visual beauty of our beloved sport. To me no other sport in the world is so visually stimulating as Formula One and Sportscar racing. I would like to create a collection here of beautiful but not everyday pictures. Colour or Black and white, modern or classic, zoomed in or overview, professional or self made. Feel free to add! To open the ball; this picture was taken at the 1971 Monaco grid. Ain't it just wonderful?

A wonderful picture René, but I have to mention it isn't 1971 but easy to be confused. It looks like a March 711 on which Ronnie's helmet is resting but in the background and out of focus is a later March, the ill conceived 721X. Therefore it must be 1972.
sorry if I am being pedantic.

JC It's outrageous JC! But I believe you any time! The caption said 71 and that seemed to be correct at first glance. But a beautiful photo it is!

This is a superbly taken panned shot, with everything correct. This photo has a strange feel in that it appears like it was taken by a digital Camera but must have been 35mm film. None the less a truly stunning shot.

My apologies René, as I am going to contradict myself. Looking at Ronnie's helmet it is in the livery he used in 1971; for in 1972 it had his "Vick" sponsorship above the visor, which it did not have in 1971 as per photo. The car in the background must be a 711 with the radiator cowl removed giving a view of the monocoque not normally revealed.
serves me right for trying to be too smart.

Charles, I think the car in the background is not a 721X. The 721X had the lateral number painted on the short sidepod just adjacent to the DFV, while the 711 had the number painted beside the cockpit. The car in the background looks Nanni Galli's N.19, Alfa Romeo-powered, which can be seen below (on a different track, yellow helmet), he didn't qualify. This is Ronnie at the Monaco 1971, where he came second. The helmet looks exactly the same as the one in the OP (which was a Reiner Schlegelmilch photo, btw):
