I won't mention bankers and Porsche 718's . . The Mighty Hamilton's theatrics were Mansellesque, and hugely amusing, nothing like paying homage to ones stricken car. He would have gained more points however if he had adopted the John Cleese character and beaten the car with a nearby branch. Forza Ferrari. Genius! 😂

Anyone know, or prepared to speculate, how much Hamilton was the architect of his qualifying problems? Keeping it pinned over the kerbs looked like a bit of a rash / frustrated move, and very hard on the car. According to Martin Brundle, the damage to his car was caused by Hamilton not backing off and running roughshod over the entire length of the second curb (kerb). That is also what Nico Rosberg said, self inflicted. Now I am off to the track again. Forza Ferrari!

Hamilton’s meltdown was a weird one wasn’t it, pressure seems to be telling as he can see the championship slipping away.
Ferrari will be tough to beat today but I hope Vettel doesn’t win for the championship’s sake. I’ll be pulling for a Kimi or Valtteri win, or better still someone completely different.

Mercedes have come out and said that the hydraulic s failed before the trip over the kerb, and either say or imply that the failure lead to steering problems which lead to the trip over the kerbs. Its in a press release, so it must be true. Yet again Mercedes reliability could rob Hamilton of a WDC, its a travesty! Enjoy the race Rene, and enjoy the North Eastern hemisphere summer warmth and daylight, while down here in the South Western hemishhemi, we shiver in the wintery night ;-)

Tonto Wolff has also come out with a statement that the Ferrari's are gaining 7/10ths of a second on the straights, so much is there power advantage. That means that they must have "Golden Jubilee Mode" now. As one poster on another site mentioned last evening, now MB know what it has felt like for all the other teams to experience such power deficit; don't you just feel so sorry for them. Incidentally I have also read that Kimi is still having to use the older power unit, so maybe his performances are not so bad after all,

Blimey, who’d have thought Hamilton would leave Hockenheim with a healthy championship lead.... Brilliant drive from Lewis, relentless pace on the softs and ultras brought him into play and he maximised his chances. I bet Ferrari wish they’d let Seb ahead of Kimi straight away, he’d of been a bit further up the road and less at threat from Hamilton’s pace on the Ultras.....maybe he wouldn’t have had to push so hard and gone off??
So the back and forth continues......excellent.
Sorry for you though René.....that must have been like ashes in your mouth 😐

Hamilton was nearly perfect throughout the race, a brilliance tainted slightly by team orders. The race ended by decree with several laps remaining and I turned it off.

Wow, that was quite a race. The pace different between the top 3 teams and the rest is still immense. Hamilton 14th to 5th in 10 laps,Ricciardo 20th to 6th in 14 laps. Because of those sharks cutting through the pack, and the rain and safety car disruptions, we got to see a lot more of the mid and rear field. I know the racing isn't always that close back there, but those guys were doing a great job of following, racing and passing on this circuit. And after the abuse the Mercedes strategist took for the Austrian GP strategy 'fail', he absolutely nailed it this time. Helped by the poor strategy calls by Ferrari, but the late change to Ultra softs was probably a winning strategy even without Vettel's nose into the tyres.
