Lewis' - new F1's connoisseur after Button's retirement - very 'tactile' opinion. Gotta say, with these specimens I'd be available to take a sabbatical from marriage... I imagine the ladies are laughing after Hamilton accidentally lowered his Nomex too far...

Having nothing better to do on a drab and damp afternoon and while waiting for the Argentine Motorcycle GP practice/qualification to begin I tuned into the qually for the F1 in some desert location, couldn't care where.
The cars look flaming horrible, but good to see the Fiat Ducato's lock out the front and beat the MB Sprinters. On a very positive note what about young Gasley in 6th along with his team mate who missed out on Q3 by a minuscule amount. If the Japanese do a "two fingered" salute then good on them towards the disgrace that is current McLaren. So much for Big Boy Brown and The Amazing Fernando, sack the bl**dy lot of them, I bet Ron is laughing his socks off.

This is the top of the line, full options model with sports rims, multiple spoilers, high quality Italian red paint job, state of the art sat nav, extra extended wheelbase and on top of it all (...), an aerodynamic roof rack (called the halo) for that extra bit of luggage!

I like where you are coming from, it would make an excellent brochure...the fastest delivery van in the world .

Several of us speculated at the time whether McLaren was outwitting itself by switching to Renault engines. It's almost no wonder they haven't got a main sponsor. Did the Titanic have one?

If ever the Titanic had a sponsor, it must had something to do with ice... There is no plan, no vision at McLaren. Only ostentation.

One learns something new every day. In 1995, Stephen Hawking was invited by the Williams team to spend the racing weekend in Spa on the occasion of the Grand Prix. Here he is in the garage watching the monitors. Looking at where Williams, with its pay drivers, have fallen, even Prof Hawking brainpower would struggle to make them go any quicker.

watching the Williams pathetic position on the grid and how Sir Frank has had to go for bucks over talent does remind me of the early 70's when Frank was in a similar position and it wasn't until he was 'saved' by the Middle East sponsors that we saw the greatness, so hopefully someone out there will sponsor Sir Frank and he can get some decent drivers

McLaren ditched Honda to retain Alonso. A "star" driver's wish ahead of industrial and commercial concerns. I mean how more f***ed up can they be? And you guys are concerned about Ferrari's veto power and financial bonus?

Recall all the McLaren nonsense endorsed by some commercial guru - an idiot, in actual fact - who wrote an embarassing piece last year on Motor Sport website about Alonso going to Indy, who then rebuffed my comments?
What's left of all that?

They are only all there for the money and the fancy glamour life. Bouiller is no McLaren man, for Zak it's only a hobby and Fernando... I guess he should go to the States. No top team in F1 wants him and he is still good enough to win a championship or two in Indycar. Or.... he should take a serious pay cut and choose for Williams. Hmmm, not sure if that is the best option for Williams though? McLaren and Williams. Who would have thought? What a sad affair to see these two F1 giants fall deeper and deeper.

At the end, I think it’s a competition, for real. I’ll explain.
Alonso may be an outstanding talent, but has always thrived with the team paying attention only to him, like Schumacher and now Vettel. It is also very possible that had he been in Vettel's place last year the championship could have gone differently. However he hardly bettered a rookie Hamilton. The sequel of bad choices, caused by bad character and ill advice, has brought him where he is. He is not anymore, since quite a while, an asset to the competition. In other words, he can retire from F1 and nobody will effectively miss him.
Should Ferrari hire Ricciardo, they should allow both drivers to compete on equal terms, we will then finally know the truth on Vettel. Whom is struggling to keep 38-year old Kimi at bay, so far. Not surprised and certanly not a shame, I may add. However the point remains of why Ferrari hire capable drivers like Kimi and then cast them stiff in second driver's role. Where is the point, also in light of the fact of last year's Vettel shortcomings. I hope they won't hire, if they should, Ricciardo as designated second driver. Although I don't understand why they are undermining Kimi after just one race, to let all this talk about Ricciardo. Which contact has been going on for a while, that seems certain, but also Merc may be interested, surely they are not going to keep Bottas another year, unless he starts to best Hamilton at each GP (not going to happen).
