How about this for a new thread gentlemen; great team mates, guys that actually got on with one another in the height of competition. First off a young Ronnie, and even younger Niki.........

These two must be in here. They hardly knew eachother before becoming teammates but got along really well.

a wonderful thread Jamie, and not only do we share an obsession for Jimmy but for 'real' sportscars as well! I rated those two very highly, so? ideal team-mates?
Fangio and Moss Collins and Hawthorn Brooks and Moss Jack and Bruce Taffy and Phil Jimmy and Graham,
in 1955 - both won GP's in 1958- both won GP's in 1958 ditto 1960- ditto 1961- ditto 1967 - no, but Graham did get pole position a few times and was leading a few times, Jimmy did win 4 of course
now, the 70's Jackie and Francois? perhaps not, although Francois did win a GP he was definably no 2 Niki and Clay? no, not after Brands 1976 - I know I was there Jody and Gilles- yes Mario and Ronnie? not sure - 1980's did anyone get on? ah yes Derick Warwick and Eddie Cheever in the Jag? this may require further thought

Graham and Jackie would be another. Jackie and Francois is a great one, they had a genuine affection for each other.

All well at Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari, Wolfgang von Trips, Umberto Maglioli, Phil Hill and Carlo Chitti at the 1960 Italian GP, Monza.

It's amazing that casual slacks and sport shirts were what they wore to drive the fastest cars in the world. Only von Trip's shoes are familiar. Phil Hill preferred a snug slipper. No-one at that time could have suspected the sea change soon to come. I remember reading about the sometime amusement/sometime resentment of many drivers about Jackie Stewart's safety demands. Had he been less talented, his cause would have had far less credence. As it was, John Surtees once caustically compared him to Moses after a drivers' meeting. Many thought it best not to consider the risks too carefully... Attachment Deleted Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Pre-F1 (and thus maybe a bit out of context regarding the thread) -- very much pre-F1, but still pro-level racing: Terry Fullerton and Ayrton Senna at Zip Kart/DAP 1978-82.

Senna and Berger, McLaren 1990-92 ... Very telling picture, whether of congratulations or condolence. Ayrton Senna was driven every moment in the car and Gerhard Berger, never serious but blessed with awesome natural talent, has admitted it was a rude awakening to realize Senna was consistently faster and appears unsure what to think in the photograph.

Fangio and Moss, Mercedes-Benz, 1955 What a wonderful picture of two of the very best of all time. JM Fangio: "Now show me again your signal for me to pass on the right" S Moss: "I may never need to use it, but if you insist"
