What a terrible self interest driven decision. I hope the bottom falls out of the F1 market and the teams drop substantially in value. I would much prefer Andretti F1 to the X formerly Alpha Tauri et al and HAAS who have done nothing. Sauber formerly Alfa Romeo as well. Yep, certainly HAAS have done nothing for the sport. But the door is still ajar for 2028….

the reaction from the likes of Matt Bishop is one of contempt for the F1 deciders. I have replied to Matt and added my disgust - there seems to be some real genuine anger amongst journalists that the Andretti name has been treated with such disrespect, which I also extend to the Indycar circus, it was a dark day for fans when F1 was sold and subsequently sold out.
I had diminishing interest for the previous few years but this has really sealed F1's fate for me, roll on WEC and can we have a UK round please sir.
With regards to Lewis going to Ferrari, I am somewhat puzzled by this - I know he is still extremely quick and if memory serves me he will be near 40 by then? Not really a long term prospect in my humble opinion.

When I read the news about Lewis and Ferrari this morning I got goosebumps. You can have all kinds of opinions about whether this is a good choice or not, but when two of the biggest names in the sport come together, it can only be fantastic, right? At least, that's how I feel. Lewis has never hidden his admiration for Ferrari and he gets along well with Charles. So why not? And with good material, Lewis is still a contender for victories and the title. I think it's going to be fantastic in my humble opinion... He already has the right company car…

Mercedes officially confirm Lewis Hamilton will leave at the end of 2024. It’s for real. And Italian Autosprint confirms: LEWIS HAMILTON SARÀ UN PILOTA FERRARI: È UFFICIALE And on socials: Team Statement Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract.

I predict infighting at Ferrari beyond what was sometimes encouraged by il Commendatore.

But yes, everything will be new to Lewis. A different culture, literally. There’s still a lot of Italian spoken in the team which Charles speaks fluently and he doesn’t. Charles will also be the fastest teammate he’s had since Fernando Alonso. This could potentially cause tensions over time. Maybe Charles becomes unhappy if the focus shifts more to Lewis. Maybe Ferrari builds a dog of a car that doesn’t suit Lewis. Maybe they don’t serve vegan food in the Ristorante Ferrari… But hey, a seven times World Champion with a record number of wins and poles to his name has just signed for Ferrari. It’s also possible it will turn out fantastico.

… and who knows, maybe Lewis can convince a few Mercedes colleagues to move to Italy with him. There is still time. But it is exceptional that both Lewis and Carlos have to spend a year in a team that they are leaving. How that will work in terms of team dynamics will be interesting to follow. In the meantime, HAAS presented their new 2024 livery today…

Twenty-four GP's !?
As to 2025. it will be very interesting! Neither Alonso nor Vettel managed to obtain another title with Ferrari. It will be interesting to see what Hamilton can do ...

Yep 24. They are finally in sync with the year. By 2030 we'll have 30 Grand Prix and by 2040... you can do the numbers. And it will certainly be interesting to see if Hamilton can bring that magic to Italy. Alonso losing out in 2010 still hurts when I think back of that last race in Abu Dhabi. Unbelievably frustrating when he was stuck behing that Russian bloke. ... And in the meantime....Williams presenting their new 2024 livery. ... and Christian Horner has a nasty accusation hanging on his pants. Of course we have to wait for the outcome of the investigation, but a company like Red Bull will always put their own reputation above that of an individual, even when it comes to someone like Christian Horner. The fact that Red Bull has announced this itself does not bode well for Horner and I would not be surprised if the team had to look for a new manager.

please forgive if I have missed this but where is Carlos going in 2025? I wonder how he is feeling about it all
One of the more interesting aspects of Lewis's signing for the red cars, is simply I do think a lot of people forget just how quick he was in the lower formulee's and how bright that desire still burns, for some reason I keep thinking it was once Ayrton's stated desire to drive a Ferrari before he retired, sadly not so, and now Lewis is almost living out his hero's dream?
one thing for certain you will easily spot the Sauber
