Wonderful photographs, Rene! Also fascinating... The first looks like a forested Can-Am race, the second is clearly Nurburgring and the third appears to be Mexico, judging by the American style helmet on the military policeman. Cheers, Carl The second and third are from 1966 (race car numbers of Hulme and Hill in the background are the giveaway).

Great bit of information Lucio. It is almost hard to imagine Denny living in a property such as that, when one considers that after retirement he went home to NZ and tinkered with Stationary Engines, a hobby he shared with my late father. He was one very interesting character.

reminds me of 1967 and stories about Jack Brabham and their relationship, what was it like? Chris, One gets the impression that Jack wasn't too pleased about Denis defecting to McLaren from some of his comments made about the 1967 season in years later. Several times in interviews I have heard Jack say that he himself should have been World Champion in 1967 but for bad luck, and never once have I heard him say well done and good luck to Denis. I think that Jack saw himself as Number 1 in the team, and why not I suppose it was his team, but Denis became tired of that and Bruce gave him full reign at McLaren, or more to the point equal status. Personally I thought that Denis was the better driver in 1967 anyway and was usually way ahead of Jack, especially at places like the Nurburgring where Denny was right up with Jimmy and Dan, while dear old Jack was back throwing pebbles at poor Chris Amon. Yes, his father was a VC and it was said that he had the same attitude, no BS, very much down to earth.
It appears the house was actually commisioned by Denny himself:

It appears the house was actually commisioned by Denny himself: I have a feeling that that house or one very similar featured in the Channel 4 program "Grand Designs" some years back. If it was Denny's it wasn't mentioned at the time in the program, so maybe not......any takers?

interesting house, my GrandFather lived in a wonderful area in Kent - a very exclusive estate where Hamilton could afford to live but I certainly couldn't, and there was a very similar house to Denny's - what a strange coincidence as Grandpa worked for Castrol and knew most of the top people, sorry a digression - interesting

Going back in time a bit here; late 1940's but what a wonderful picture. Quite a trim looking "Pampas Bull", and what about his attire; big baggy "Chinos" with high waist and sports shirt. The whole scene is superb, from the majestic building behind to the huge crowd gathered behind the straw bales. Anyone any ideas of where this may have been taken?

That is a wonderful picture. I do not recognize the building in the background so no idea where this is. Could be Italy, Spain or Argentina I would guess. José does look slim! Looking better at the photo I do see a tricolor flag banner. Italy?

Looking better at the photo I do see a tricolor flag banner. Italy? Some excellent suggestions René. I hadn't noticed the trip-colour flag, very good observation by you there. The building is obviously a church going on the style of the architecture. There were so many races held on street circuits in those times, and that is what fascinates me, and leads to my not knowing where the picture was taken. It could be San Remo if in Italy, and the cars would appear to be Voiturette's, and look like Ferrari's to me, well the one behind José most definitely is.

A great portrait photo René. I should imagine that wasn't one of Jackie's favourite race meetings, however the aftermath of such events probably saved a large number of lives over the following years. So many owe so much to the guy, but I wonder how many really appreciate what he did.
