The Temple of Speed, the race of all races, certainly for the tifosi! Lot’s of pressure on the Scuderia but on paper this circuit with long straights is not ideal for the F1-75. But hey, the Hungaroring and Zandvoort were in fact ideal on paper and that didn’t work out. So who knows, maybe lady luck is on Maranello’s side this time!
No doubt Red Bull will be the favourites and given the layout of the track, Checo could be closer to Max this time. I don’t expect Mercedes to be as competitive as in Budapest and Zandvoort. And how must Daniel Ricciardo feel? Daniel won here last time out and must be having very mixed emotions right now. What looked to be his breakthrough was in the end his sole success at McLaren. Who would have thought that when he signed the McLaren contract...
On a more positive note, to celebrate Ferrari's 75th anniversary (since their first production car left the factory) and Monza’s 100th anniversary, Ferrari will show up in a special color scheme with a lot of Enzo’s preferred yellow. Yellow of course the color of the city of Modena. I think it looks cool, also the big 'F lunga' Ferrari name on the rear wing. Like that!
Forza Ferrari!

Good luck Ferrari I seriously hope they do well I have sort of gone for George as I do see the Mercedes getting better but the way the red bulls are going it’s difficult to see past them

Has he considered whether the resonance image isn't fitted?

Looking good so far. Ferrari topping both practice sessions but of course Max not far off. But the speed is certainly there.
And then there's a long list of drivers with a grid penalty, not least Verstappen with a 5 place penalty. Not that this has hindered him before but hey, he won't start from the front. Also penalties for Sainz, Hamilton, Perez, Tsunoda and Bottas!

Breaking news: a second Dutchman will race this sunday in the Italian Grand Prix. Nyck De Vries will replace Alex Albon who was taken unwell with appendicitis.
Sorry for Alex but he will recover so happy for Nyck who really deserves an oppurtunity like this. De Vries is a former world karting champion, Formula 2 champion and world champion in FE. But somehow the years have passed and Nyck is now 27, 'old' for an F1 debut. He did have some F1 tests and FP1s but never raced in F1. It will be interesting to see what he can do in the Williams, a car that is fast on the straights.

I recall that De Vries was en route to a brilliant F1 career a few years back, and I often wondered how a man with such a racing-CV could be by-passed (by the F1 community), eventually. Very nice that he gets a new chance :-)

Quote of the day: Yuki Tsunoda: “F1 fans pushing conspiracy theories need 'an MRI scan'” No reason to pay more attention to this, I guess; I understand that there's nothing to it, and that Tsunoda just didn't think; yet I don't quite agree in that the thought - that so many had - was far-fetched. The reason is that F1 is hyper-professional, and we're not used to seeing F1 drivers doing something "silly" and irrational; and it was very irrational indeed to park the car at that spot. If a crash can be staged (like the infamous "crashgate" incident in 2008, as Carl reminded us), then ... anything can happen, I guess.
Another indicent that came to mind was Michael Schumacher's "accident" at Monaco in 2006 ... Again, F1 drivers normally know what they're doing ...

Very nice that he gets a new chance :-) Yes and he did an extremely good job! He first drove the Aston Martin yesterday in FP1 and then jumping in the Williams this afternoon which was not setup ideally for him but still outqualifying Latifi! He made it to Q2 on P13 and was even two tenth up on his last run but missed the breaking at the Variante della Roggia. But that only showed he was pushing.
He will start 8th, next to Max, due to all the grid penalties!

Oh you're right of course, Mikael. Nothing is unthinkable or too crazy in F1 so I see where it was coming from. But in this case I think it was highly unlikely because of how far ahead Max is in the points standing. And there was a lot of ugly verbal abuse afterwards on social media towards AlphaTauri and Red Bull people which seems to be the 'normal' way these days...
As for Yuki's comment, I just thought it was typical him and quite funny.

Pole position for Charles Leclerc!
Fantastic lap, completely on the limit and fabulous to watch. I believe he can do it tomorrow. Forza Ferrari!

Is it just me but the speed difference in the opening laps between Max and the rest, including his teammate, is just absurd. Hungary, Spa and now Monza. It doesn't seem to matter where Verstappen starts, he's leading after a handful of laps. And there is no one fighting him for position. I mean, Max is not lapping them, it's for position! Feels rather depressing at the moment..
