Under normal circumstances we would be almost halfway the season by now. But the British Grand Prix is only the fourth race in this unusual year. What to expect? Mercedes will probably disappear on the horizon so the question is more; can Red Bull develop itself out of these handling issues fast enough to give the Mercs a run for their money? The Pink Mercs should also be fast here but they won’t keep up for the entire race. I hope McLaren and Willams do well on their home track. Ferrari will probably struggle but I hope of course for a strong result. That would be good for morale. Bring it on Silverstone!

I have chosen Hamilton in the hopes that my pick will put the knockers on him.

Ferrari seemed to have admitted that their car is a load of C*** and has been for a while. I wonder why they chose to get rid of Seb then....

that is a fabulous photo Rene, thank you, one of the best ever motor racing years [1965] and for me it was a damm shame he wasn't in a decent car at Le Mans that year as surely he would have won that as well, in my humblest of opinions the only true World Motor Racing Champion- anyway
it's live it's on C4 and Lee is doing the practice, then the nauseating one returns, so I will make the effort to watch it in between WSB and go Scott go cheering but possibly with no sound at times, obviously not when Lee is leading, aside from my admiration she is a true professional journalist, prepared, efficient and professional
I have gone for Bottas although if anyone gets close to Lewis I'll be surprised that car and he are just so far ahead, is he getting bored yet? although may change my mind now
the red cars are a major disappointment, and are probbaly looking at finishing in the top ten is a good move,
Rob, if history is anything to go by I wonder if Seb has been a bit too vocal in his criticisms

In an article on the quite useful site grandprix.com it was noted that Sebastian Vettel doesn't have a manager. It is a fact that I almost had forgotten, but I think I admired it at some point. But now I wonder if it really was a wise approach to take ...? A good, trustworthy manager could have eliminated a good deal stress - and I imagine there's plenty of that as a Ferrari driver. Michael Schumacher always had a manager. (On the other hand, as I understand it, Hamilton doesn't have one either. But of course, Niki Lauda probably was a kind of a manager for him, so in reality, he doesn't have long history of being managerless.) And of course, the relation with a manager can also turn sour, as it did with Danish Kevin Magnussen and his manager - who took him to court!

I will go for ... Perez this time. The pink Mercedes is seriously competitive at this point - so it's now or never! It's definitely not going to be Perez as he tested positive for Covid-19 and will therefore not take part this weekend! Rumour says he will be replaced by Nico Hülkenberg! A podium for the Hulk after all?

Confirmed: Nico Hülkenberg will replace Sergio Perez for this weekend's British Grand Prix! Next race is already next week. Can Sergio return so soon? I doubt it. And I really like this: Lando's new helmet designed by 6 year old Eva Muttram!

Quite a shock about Checo Perez and the close contacts to him, all good wishes to him and them however. What a break for Nico, he might now get that first podium (I think he hasn't achieved that distinction yet), what a blast if both MB's broke or something and he actually won . Gone for Hamilton, nothing can really stop him now. Tonto spouting off in the week about it not being MB's fault that are so dominant; money and resources pal! Get young George in that second car now, that just might shake up Lewis a bit. Ferrari; what the blazes can you say a return to the bad old days. Maybe the FIA should have let them keep their special engines, for goodness sake the spectacle needs it.

Rob, I think it was because Vettel was the only one at Ferrari who refused to recognize Leclerc as the better driver and therefore number one. His reckless mistakes in an attempt to assert himself only made things worse.

the Hulk is back, not a bad effort, maybe Seb going there isn't such a bad idea, but a bit lost for words with junior stroll, I suppose well done would be in order?

I am glad to see Lance Stroll up there. I think he has got enough flak for being a rich man's son. There are very few modern drivers who get there on talent alone, there normally is a rich benefactor somewhere in the background. If F1 is serious about addressing equality in racing they are going to have to address the very high cost of motorsport which is the highest barrier to entry of all and has been since time immemorial.

Unfortunately we will never see a change to the influence of money in motor sport Rob, the die has been set.
I cannot get my head around Stroll being fastest.
This morning I watched the interview on S*yF1 with Brundle and Sebastian Vettel; Sebastian impresses me more and more out of the car. He comes across like those drivers of the past, no frills just a decent down to earth lad who just wishes to be a normal guy. F1 must not loose him.

A very good effort by Lance Stroll, no question. He can drive, whatever way you look at it but it does show how important the car is. It always was in Formula 1 but it seems very extreme today. I wonder though what Seb or Max could do in that Racing Point...
I agree JC that it would be a loss for F1 would Seb Vettel leave. One of the most intelligent and likeable guys in the paddock.
