thanks for the above Lucio, it just beggars belief that as John says, short-term greed is damming us all, since the 1980's I have watched and mused whilst others have sought their pot of gold and power which deprives us musers of access to anything of worth. Well the trouble is that also means I won't know what is being advertised so can't buy it.....
With regards to the number of races per season, if the product was worth watching it would be less of a problem, growing up in the 60's and 70's with the real Race of Champions, the Goodwood 100, The Silverstone races, it was absolutely brilliant, but then, you had a driver competing in 4 different categories and the racing was intensely interesting, whereas now....I also see that WSB is increasing their weekends to 3 races, seems to be if there is a problem we will just throw more races in hoping that this will cure the ills, personally given the product I think this is more like overkill
but my real annoyance is F1, 'green engines' ok, except you are now flying far more miles than ever before which, despite not being an environmental scientist cannot be 'helping' the world can it? Maybe you can use these 'green engines' to fly the bleep bleep plane and have some decent engines on the ground,

Excellent Chris, my sentiments exactly. In normal society, I guess that means life as it was up to circa 1980, a thing increased in value due to it's rarity. F1, rugby, cricket, football etc etc could do well to follow this route. Nowadays if you miss one you just catch the next.
As the younger, "brighter" generations seem to think more is better we are stuck. This view of oh I just catch the next one was brought home to me some years ago. I was in London, 2002 I think, when the Queen Mother's body was due to be moved from one place to another. As per British standard protocol there was a whole morning set aside for this ceremony with the attendant military escort, soldiers every five metres etc etc. Naturally everybody lined the streets because this was quite a rarity, being around 100 years since the last time a similar event took place. The crowds were the usual five to ten rows deep. On my left was a young lady in her late teens, early 20s who was on her boyfriend's shoulders. Just before the cortege approached she was distracted by a policeman asking somebody to get out of a tree and so missed the drive by. She lamented briefly before brightening up and saying "No problem I will just watch it next year". The crowd chuckled as she realised her error and that she had missed an historic moment.p
I agree with Lucio and yourself that F1 races should be reduced not increased as should cricket matches, proper rugby matches etc etc. Tennis and golf thrive on four major tournaments a year. Less is more as they say and to quote my dear old grandmother "Enough is as good as a feast".
Sadly the rare commodities of integrity, honesty, humbleness and lack of greed don't get any reward.
Ps I am practising hard to become a curmudgeon like Carl.
