Six races to go. Two title contenders. Silver fury. Red mist. Seb really needed to win the last few races but he didn't so he really NEEDS (!!!) to win this one to keep his title chances alive (... no pressure... ). If the Scuderia can turn the title fight around it will be a monumental achievement. But if Lewis wins the title it will probably be his best in a Mercedes. Lewis against Seb. Nothing else really matters right now. Bring it on!

When Jackie Stewart first followed his older brother into racing and wanted to spare his mother worrying, he entered many events as A.N. Other and won more than his share in ordinary equipment.
I choose the impossible chances of another because the odds today in Formula One are unbalanced in favor of the teams with $500,000,000.00 to spend. This relic of Ecclestone essentially cripples the concept of competition. Only by an extraordinarily unlikely turn of events will anyone else stand on the top step. Maybe they're simply intelligent enough to avoid wanting to talk with David Coulthard...

Good point about DC. Maybe the Renault engine isn't that bad. Kimi is probably the only who wouldn't care who interviewed him as judging by his answers they all ask inane questions.

And by the way, Max will start dead last due to an engine change. Could be fun to watch how far he will get.

I am voting for Hamilton - wholeheartedly. But now I'm getting nervous; I feel that any time I have voted for him, something has happened. Anyway ...
Sorry for rushing on to "my own duck yard"; but Japan is being hit head-on by typhoon #24 this weekend. And typhoon #25 is nowhere in sight; so this bodes well for the next GP; it seems - so far - that the Japanese GP will be typhoon-free this year.

batten down the hatches Mikael, hope all will be ok, I say this as I look out at the beautiful County Durham hills bathed in sunshine, sad to say not bathed in warmth, central heating about to be coaxed,

I see Haas have resigned Grosjean and KMags for next season. Its a bit of a surprising decision to me, when there are some very quick and talented drivers who appear to be available. Grosjean is incredibly lucky to retain the seat with Haas. He's capable of being very very fast, but he's so fragile mentally. With Haas, there were the two seasons of braking problems, the crazy crashes this season (lighting up the tyres to spin across the circuit in Spain remains the most dangerous manoeuvre I've seen anyone pull, and putting himself in the wall at Baku - wtf!!!), so many examples, including the latest, of being oblivious of blue flags in Singapore. It doesn't seem he has the mental capacity to perform at the top level. If he is so unaware of what's going on, how can his feedback help the team's development? Without his errors Haas would easily have the 15 points they're behind Renault, and would have saved a lot of cash spent on accident repairs and rebuilds. Things must look very different from within Haas for them to retain him, but from the outside he looks like a liability. Phew, that turned from a comment into an anti Grosjean rant.......Big John must go!!!!!!

I've always thought he's one of the more insightful 'colour commentators', not so keen on those tight trousers he likes but, if he's sitting down for dinner I won't see those. Its not just Verstappen who is starting at the back. He'll be alongside Ricciardo, and behind Alonso. The cars trying to charge through the pack should make for some interesting on track action. I'm picking Ver-crash-en to continue to refine his car tagging techniques during this race, and make his way up to fifth.

Unless Martin Brundle is present, it's difficult to listen to the otherwise unchallenged pap and pabulum of David Croft. Brundle is the only one who will politely dispute his nonsense.

Nothing against Romain, I think he's a really nice guy but as you say, he seems to struggle with pressure and makes too many mistakes. Ocon would have made more sense but that is obviously impossible with his Mercedes link so I kinda hoped for Vandoorne. Still think the Belgium is good.

That's a great story Lucio! Talking about Stalin. I went to see the movie "The death of Stalin" a few month ago. Hilarious!
