A traditionally difficult track for Mercedes and a track where Vettel has a record four victories to his name. But is that enough to turn the tables? We've all concluded that Vettel has a pressure problem and Hamliton is on a high. But Seb cannot afford another big points loss to Lewis. In fact, he needs to win and hope for a DNF for Lewis. Furthermore, this will be a track where the Red Bulls could be really strong and maybe even challenge for a win. And what about Kimi? Will he support Seb if needed or go for his own success when possible? Enough to look forward to so bring it on!

When Vettel must win, he's more likely to lose, not what the Scuderia needs.
Adrian Newey has nervous palpitations when cars are nose to tail and asks, "What have I done right"?
Maybe Daniel Ricciardo will reverse the jaded cynicism of motor racing fans...

Looking for retribution for Seb. Interested to see how Kimi responds. According to Mark Hughes Leclerc was told before Kimi that he would be driving for Ferrari. Kimi was only told on Sunday morning whereas Leclerc on Sat evening. I think it should have been the other way around. Maybe Ferrari have redeployed Kimi to Alfa Romeo rather than Sauber!!

will the handcuffs finally come off the Kimster? will we see just how quick Seb and Kimi finally are? strangely enough, I have Spotify on in the background and it is playing 'Comfortably Numb' - says everything - although I understand it is now the last time I can watch the race live, so may well watch the race. I have voted for Kimi as I do think he is genuinely quick still and can win - I hope so, mind you if Daniel did then I wouldn't be sad
I really don't understand Liberty, I know the deal with Sky was done with the previous greedy lot but surely Liberty must be thinking that they want to increase the audience and here we are going to decimate it, I wonder if the one 'live' broadcast next year captures a larger audience than the rest of the GP's put together- oh dear - sad days,

I agree, Chris, it doesn't make any sense for the sport and its sponsors to be behind the paywall. Yet, that is it, from next year both the UK and Italy - two of the biggest TV markets in Europe , third and second respectively behind Germany which has 25m population more than both - will have no more F1 live free on air.
I did put a scathing comment on MS yesterday, scathing on the management speak from SKY - "innovative" (always innovative!!), "ecosystem" (they talk like the mafia) - but also on MS who reports all the nonsense verbatim, without an editorial policy of comment. I then deleted it because I just don't care anymore.
I recall when grand slam tennis went on pay TV in Italy - tennis disappeared, from one day to the other. I never watched it again. Will do the same for F1.

Hmmm, very close between Ferrari and Mercedes (Kimi and Lewis) but Seb hit the wall! Vettel admitted he is his own 'biggest enemy' in the 2018 title fight. Maybe to release some pressure for himself?
Please Seb, don't give the title to Lewis on a plate! That would be such a disappointment.

It’s closer than I expected through FP 1 & 2, could be interesting today. Don’t worry René, I still think this title will go the way of Ferrari but Lewis will make it hard for them as he’s driving really well at the moment.
I’d really like Kimi to throw off the shackles and go for it, it would be a shame if he didn’t win one before he leaves.

Jamie, Lewis is driving at his best. That is why I am very worried! It would indeed be nice to see Kimi win one more time. But I don't agree with the fact he was shackled until now. He is (in general) not faster than Vettel in my opinion. If he was, we would have seen that more often.

Just a thought: To get their drivers to perform at their very best, without ever "cracking under pressure", perhaps Mercedes struck gold by employing Lauda as, effectively (I believe), a mentor and a confidential. I'm sure that both Vettel and Hamilton would say that they don't need a mentor; yet it makes a world of a difference to have someone you really trust and admire to talk to. Of course Lauda is absent at present, but I think his influence has been strong and is still felt strongly.
Makes you wonder why nobody else have followed Mercedes's example. Of course Red Bull has Marko, but his role seems to be very different (from Lauda's) and I don't think he ever was one the drivers really could "confess" to.
If Schumacher had been healthy, he could have been a huge support to Vettel. It's such a shame -- he is much missed ...

I must say that was a mega Q3 lap by Lewis. Championship winning stuff indeed.

That is the stratosphere.
And just behind, Max.
It is I, Leclerc

If there’s an opportunity for a result, I hope he takes it.

Blimey.....some lap by Lewis there. Verstappen alongside could be 'interesting'.

Yes, that pole lap by Lewis was amazing. World class. Very good qualy also for Max and Ferrari was underwhelming, certainly after a strong FP3. But it's a long race and anything can happen... as they say.

Not sure what is the issue with Ocon, but Perez was inside. Playing the audience by taking the high moral ground while he's been on the receiving end doesn't help his prospects. Change of attitude required.
Having said that, I do struggle to find the point with Perez as a driver.
