Thanks guys for the music lesson. I have some more things to look up on YouTube. Although I love music and have similar tastes to all of you, I do not have the extreme depth of knowledge that you guys have. René I love listening to Baroque music when building models. Have you heard the piece Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi. I am not sure what genre it is but it is a lovely piece of music. For those of you who went through the English education system, I passed my "O" , "M" and "A" levels listening to the music of the early seventies. I'll have to research some Baroque music as I do like a spot of classical when the mood takes me. Does anyone like choral music? When done well its simply stunning and can transport you to a completely different place......as a taster have a listen to this piece form the royal wedding of William and Kate a few years back. Its quite well known so you may well be aware of it. This would be on my 'desert island discs' collection and its quite fantastic I think; I'd recommend headphones or plenty of volume so you can hear the low tones which are so important....

I must admit to not being a great lover of choral music, although I am cool with Buddhist chanting, that seems to relax a bit, but do like those Sunday mornings with the sun rising and looking over the hills, with peace around me and listening to either ballads or peaceful classical music, but then I do love opera, ah well, but as it is now approaching 07:00 I think the neighbours might enjoy some Rory [Gallagher] followed by a bit of Quo and some early [real] Fleetwood Mac with the incredible Peter Green, and maybe some Traffic, Allman Bros, to complete the circle...but maybe as they haven't annoyed me for at least a day I'll try out Jamie's and Rob's suggestions first, maybe....

I too love listening to relaxing music when working on my models, quality time! That is a beautiful piece of music by Ludovico Einaudi. I hadn't heard it before but it is really beautiful. Very dreamy and I would classify it more as romantic music. If you're in a dreamy mood I could also recommend music by Philip Glass, Max Richter or Arvo Pärt. All very cinematic music that can take you to another world. And for the more experienced ear, try Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt.

A little piece of music that really conveys the excitement of motor sport is the part of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" that starts out with a bass solo. For some reason, Fleetwood Mac didn't enjoy much coverage in Denmark in the late 70's and early 80's, so the first time I heard this "theme" was actually in a promotional movie made by Audi, covering their first, or first two, season(s) (1981 or '81-'82) in rally with the Audi Quattro, piloted by Hannu Mikkola and Michele Mouton. (It was a movie (video) my father had acquired.) This theme underlying the music made by a straight-five Audi at full song on an icy road - it fits like hand in glove!
When I finally heard "The Chain" in its full length (in the mid-80's!) I was very surprised to meet again the "Audi theme".
But I believe it was also used by BBC as the intro to the F1 broadcasts; isn't this true?

Fleetwood Mac played this live when I saw them back in 1980, Lindsey Buckingham is a fantastic guitar player with a unique style. According to some many of the band were "stoned" most of the time back then, but they still played fantastically.
"The Chain" has become forever linked with Formula One following its use as the intro' to the original BBC coverage.
Early this morning I had one of my iPods playing, it is full of all kinds of music everything imaginable except for "rap" which like others on our site I cannot stand. One song came on (I have it set to Shuffle" most of the time) which I hadn't heard for a long while it was Steven Stills from his "Man Alive" album and called "Drivin' Thunder", co written with Neil Young. A great driving song if ever there was one.
One of the greatest guitar solos I have ever seen is the one below; Steven Stills playing acoustic guitar live with Crosby; Stills & Nash performing "Suite Judy Blue Eyes". One of my best friends plays guitar and he said that this was one of the most difficult things to play and Stills is outstanding.

Nothing to do with motorsport, but I have loved this music as long as I can remember, the solos in Money are the end of the world, i will never tire like I will never tire to listen to Bach. Very few bands sound as good live as on studio recording, these guys sound even better live. So here it goes:
PS: listening to Comfortably Numb solo - God must have paused a moment when David Gilmour was conceived.

Not to reinforce the concept - no need whatsoever - but Good Lord, have mercy:
