The Monaco Grand Prix, the beginning of the summer! Glitter, glamour and no overtaking sums it up I guess. But still a highlight on the calendar. Mercedes is playing down their chances. Red Bull is favourite but can Ferrari bounce back? A surprise result from Haas, Renault or McLaren maybe? Bring it on.

Is that Tabac corner with the empire architecture hidden behind temporary stands and Big John being chased by wee Jackie in 1965...?

I have voted for Kimi in the hope that my God status can bring to bear restitution for last year .

I have voted for Kimi in the hope that my God status can bring to bear restitution for last year . Although not yet endowed with divine powers, this is also my reason for choosing Daniel. Ironically, both driver's chances were sabotaged by their own teams in subsequent years.

it would be some sort of poetic justice is either Daniel or Kimi win but i have gone for Valteri this time - purely and simply because i have no idea and the Proclaimers are playng
great photo of big John and wee Jackie - 965 was surely one of Graham's best races

I have voted for Hamilton (to balance the sheet ...) -- but I also believe he will do it again!

The Red Bulls are fast as expected, Ferrari and Mercedes close behind. Could be close on saturday! ©Autosport

I was surprised at the lack of accidents in the two sessions. I did read that Max got hauled before the "beak" for reversing back onto the track after an overshoot, as ever he had a good Brief and got away with it!! What is it about Aussie's and Monaco .

I was surprised at the lack of accidents in the two sessions. Ver-crash-en, has upped his game getting his contact in early. That's Grosjean on the list, a nice wee tag at the hairpin, in FP2. Is he going to start upping his scoring rate and start hitting more than one other driver per race weekend?

This could be a real challenging weekend for Red Bull. It looks like Ricciardo is really dialled in, with Ver-crash-en very close behind. If they do wind up sharing the front row, it could be Baku style fireworks again. Unless Horner and Marko are prepared to set some rules. If not, Hamilton could be up for another inherited win...... This will also be another tough test for Grosjean. His state of mind this season has been really poor, and repeated accidents are just cranking up the pressure. I saw in FP1 he clipped the barriers a couple of times, and had contact with Ver-crash-en in FP2. If he can make it through this weekend without stacking it, that should take a bit of pressure of him, but if not, Haas might be looking for someone to replace him.

I am sure Marko and Horner had a good chat with the boys. It won't happen again. Personally, I have lost faith in Grosjean. He can be really fast but he's just not consistent enough. Sometimes when he is on a high you think 'yes' but then he has another low key phase again. He can forget about a Ferrari or Merc ride.

Hi Rene, If I'm right about Ver-crash-en's mindset (determined to show that he's 'better' than Ricciardo, and No1 at RBR), then I don't think he has the self restraint not to fight Ricciardo, no matter what Horner and Marko say. I've more belief that Ricciardo can keep his ego in check, but he's not likely to concede position the Ver-crash-en if there is a win at stake. I guess we'll see this weekend how it plays out. Could be another cracker, on track and in the garages. As for Grosjean, I agree his Ferrari dreams are gone, and it's likely that his F1 career could be over before the end of this season. Its a real shame because when he gets things together, he's really quick, unfortunately its seems that mentally he isn't strong enough to excell at the F1 level. Its particularly sad that he's having a meltdown this season, because this years Haas is a seriously good car. He should be helping Haas to 4th in the championship, and regularly finishing top 6.
