I made a small compilation of the known 6 wheel racers and actually did find another one, albeit not an actual formula 1 car. Scroll down... Rene, Your "small compilation" is magnificent! Pat Clancy was rightly proud of his Irish heritage and happy to have 4 driven wheels!

I am so glad that this idea never took off. the P34 was definitely not one of my favourite cars. I think Auto Union also ran four wheels on the back of their hill climb car back in the late 30s Indeed, Auto Union had the double rear wheels. A concept copied by Ferrari. I did like the P34, so different and unique. But I agree it was good it didn't became the standard.

Jamie, I have never seen that - it does look rather strange,
the 1976 version of the P34 looked ok but the 1977 version looked hideous
Rene, wonderful new banner!!

The "toilet seat" has brought an end to my immediate interest in contemporary F1; a true travesty instigated by a vandal named Todt.

Rene, wonderful new banner!! Thanks Chris. A fully committed Gilles (that's a pleonasm I believe.. ) at the Long Beach Grand Prix 1981. He must have kissed the wall looking at his front wing but that didn't stop him!

It is a sound idea in theory Chris, but it would no doubt fall on deaf ears in all probability for the very reason he seems unwilling to challenge the manufacturers. The Penske has everything in the correct place, and of course does not have a front wing that resembles Chase Carey's upper lip adornment.

Absolutely right, and even though the banner image has the larger road-racing wings it's still far more sleek and beautiful than today's winglet infested Grand Prix cars.
