I don't remember that picture Charles but I do remember the Durex one on the Surtees in 1978. The full page advert in Autosport read "The Simple but Safe Formula. We displayed that advert in the pub we built in our commune.

Rob, further to your aside about the sponsorship, what about Keke's Fred Opert Formula Atlantic Chevron sponsored by Excite condoms and in glorious pink; I recall Lucio putting up a photo of that car on the MS forum some time back.

Great image of the Penthouse Hesketh 308E René, like the Samson Shag Shadow of Jan Lammers, very eye catching and hugely decorative. I built a 1.43rd kit of this car and it does look superb and for the time it was a very good quality kit. Rob, further to your aside about the sponsorship, what about Keke's Fred Opert Formula Atlantic Chevron sponsored by Excite condoms and in glorious pink; I recall Lucio putting up a photo of that car on the MS forum some time back. I clearly remember a photograph of Keke Rosberg's Chevron in a pitlane somewhere. Someone possibly connected to Durex had placed a giant stuffed phallus in the (ahem!) cockpit, like a giant teddy bear without teddy, but noticably bare.

oh dear, the Benny Hill puns are running rapidly around my poor head, I can just see Keke's reaction Carl, oh how we laughed.

the new picture of Jody in the P34 brought back some fond memories - an interesting idea that launched a few 6 wheel versions, I remember Ferrari's, March's and William's, but aside from these 4 were there any others?

Great Banner Image, Rene, by chance at the exit of the Station hairpin? Jody had one of the coolest helmet designs, clean and beautiful...and the hairpin at Monaco will always be the Station to me! I say as well, if Prince Albert had any courage he'd get rid of the swimming pool and bring back the Gasometer because the fast curving straight between Tabac and the Gasometer hairpin would provide, as before, the only good place to pass. He could certainly arrange these alterations to the principality over which he reigns as head of state and then the FIA would have no choice but to adjust. Attachment Deleted

Ferrari obviously coupled the rear wheels side by side, without double suspensions and axles.

Chris, not a racing car but I recall there was a six-wheeled luxury sports car, called Panther 6 (from 1977), which was said to have been inspired by the Tyrrell P34. Mikael, a wonderful picture, if i knew how I would post a photo of Lady Penelope's 6 wheel drive pink Rolls, so if anyone can oblige?
talking of Rolls Royces, my wonderful late Grandfather had a couple of Silver Clouds, one being a company car and the first car I ever drove, on reflection it really has been downhill ever since. oh well,

You ride a Triumph motorcycle do you not? I would rather that any day of the week over a Rolls Royce . JC

I am so glad that this idea never took off. the P34 was definitely not one of my favourite cars. I think Auto Union also ran four wheels on the back of their hill climb car back in the late 30s
