I was there in 1976 when the race became farcical with lots of protests and counter protests, the crowd going crazy and slow handclapping the organisers and then an inspired James took the lead and I have never heard cheers like it
As far as this year is concerned I am at the stage will someone please beat the fizzy drinks lot

I hope for a Ferrari win but if George or Lewis or Fernando would win, I will also cheer them on.

I have gone for Verstappen to win in the hopes that whoever I predict loses as has happened all this season and most of the last four.

May I suggest that Adrian Newey joins him? Preferably dressed in Dirndl.

Max fastest in both sessions but Ferrari close on his heels. After a low key FP1 for Ferrari, Sainz only 0.022s slower in FP2! Leclerc's car had electrical issues and couldn't take part in FP2 unfortunately. A surprisingly fast Williams (p3 & p5) and a worrying slow Mercedes (p12 & p15!).

Wow, what a stunning result for McLaren, p2 and p3! Only Max was faster, “he always spoils the party “ Lando said. Fantastic lap from Oscar Piastri. He has what it takes. But what a great result for the Woking team. Great stuff. Ferraris solid in p4 and 5 and the Mercedes cars 6 and 7. Great qualy for Alex Albon again and Alonso and Gasly make up the top 10. Pérez out in Q1 again! What’s going on there?

A good race with some very close competition and well done passes. Lando Norris was brilliant in defense, even when on the wrong tyres in the closing laps. McLaren has made a great stride into serious contention, while Aston-Martin may want to remove recent upgrades and Ferrari spend time reforming management. Charles and Carlos both deserve cars commensurate with their ability.
If only Devoid Croft was intelligent enough to understand, as great musicians and the best announcers do, the value of pauses, and even silence, during a performance. Early in the race, George Russell attempted a dramatic pass of Charles Leclerc approaching Stowe Corner. Too excited either for accuracy or correction, croft confused Ferrari drivers three times in quick succession. That bright yellow crest at the top of #55 tells everyone else what remains secret for some.
Later in the broadcast and for almost a minute, Martin Brundle waited patiently to praise the innovative visor camera in Hamilton's car on full display while croft remained oblivious. When Fernando Alonso was maintaining his distance behind Pierre Gasly, probably to conserve tyres, croft likened the #14 Aston-Martin to an undead zombie becoming animated now and then, an analogy more suitable for croft himself.

Enjoyed the race as I usually do on an old school circuit. The opening lap raised the goose bumps that I used to get years ago at the start of a GP. If Sky stuck to MB, KC, JB and DH as race commentators life would be good. I definitely cannot stand Ted Kravitz any more. He has become a legend in his own mind.

It was indeed a good race and the McLarens were a real revelation. If it wasn't for Max, it would actually be an exciting championship! Last race I thought Ferrari was the second team, but they have now fallen back behind McLaren and Mercedes. For Aston Martin meanwhile, things are starting to get worrying. They have a good basic car, but development seemed to have stalled. We'll see how the McLarens do in the next race, but this was a very convincing performance and both drivers showed their class. Well deserved. Always love seeing F1 cars at Silverstone. The speed as they go through Maggots and Becketts remains incredible! I liked the commentary from Jolyon Palmer, James Hinchcliffe and Ben Edwards on F1TV.

I would love to have commentary on F1TV, but Protestant thrift discourages having two subscriptions, so I rely on lower volume and the mute button. Damned by abundance! Sunday really presented a tough choice for spectators, simplified only if either legendary circuit was convenient to attend. Formula One and World Endurance Cup on the same extended weekend at Silverstone or Monza would be an escalation of wonder, if not unprecedented.
Formula One has historically provided excellent support races. In the 1960s, an FIA sanctioned 6 Hour prototype race was held every year at Watkins Glen the day before the Grand Prix, very cool because many graded F1 drivers took part in both. Long Beach had Formula Atlantic supporting F1 several times and excellent IMSA prototypes share race weekends with Indycar these days. Damned by high ticket prices, but blessed by abundance...

John also detested Ted Kravitz. He and DC are like a bad vaudeville comedy team.
I second your choices and also like Anthony Davidson and newcomer Bernie Collins, formerly an Aston-Martin race strategist. She always seems to understand why teams act as they do.
Cheers, Carl

absolutely agree Carl, forgot about AD and Bernie. They have upped Sky's game a lot. Karun Chandook has such a great knowledge of F1 history. All of them are really humble and they have all been there and done that. Pity Kravitz and Croft got look and learn. I liked DC as a driver but he is too smarmy nowadays for me.
