There was a wonderful post on twitter saying Ferrari have upgraded their F1 car and showed a picture of the the 499 winning car,
Unfortunately Rene I suspect you are spot on with your predictions, although it doesn’t stop our wishful thinking, I guess the main question will be if Checo can compete,

Unfortunately, Charles is no longer allowed to wear his Gilles Villeneuve tribute helmet. Word has Jacques Villeneuve was not amused he was not consulted upfront and the presence of Ferrari sponsors on the helmet was not okay. Jacques has become a bit of a whiner... what a shame as it was a genuine tribute from Charles.

Overtaken by reality… Charles has been cleared to use the Gilles tribute helmet!

Bwah, what a disappointing qualy for Ferrari. Why didn’t they listen to Leclerc when he suggested to use the slicks early in Q2? Like Albon and the McLarens did. Not good. And Carlos is useless in these conditions.
But great driving from Max who is always excellent in the rain and the Hulk in P2!
If it rains tomorrow, anything is possible.

Thank goodness for the good sense of his mother and sister!

JV has always had a bit of a problem with his father, right from when he first came to F1.

JV is too much focused on money, legal rights, sponsor issues, bla bla... But Charles had a nice chat with Melanie; “Charles was very sweet about it,” Melanie told Autosport. “We have no objections. It’s a nice tribute.”

The time of looking and analyzing is now over for Fred. Ferrari has fantastic technicians and great mechanics. That's not where the problem lies. But operationally, on the pit wall they are not decisive and often make wrong decisions. That does not give the drivers confidence. And like yesterday in Q2, not listening to your star driver is just not good. "Verstappen is also doing a banker lap on inters" Charles was told. Who cares? Charles said he could drive with slicks. Give him slicks! With Charles, the team has one of the most talented drivers on the grid in their ranks. A driver who has an enormous passion for Ferrari. His dream is becoming World Champion in a Ferrari. Don't waste it, Ferrari! I am usually not in favor of firing people but the team needs a shake up. They do not operate on the same level as Red Bull or Mercedes do. We need action Fred, no delays.

Ref. J. Villeneuve: Maybe just the typical attitude for someone who has been closely associated with F1 for many years. As I understand it, it's not a friendly environment at all - very unlike the early years of the Series.
Then and now ...

A really beautiful, simple signature helmet design, that of Gilles Villeneuve.
That of Jaques Villeneuve I never liked. Also a quite simple design; but some really odd, non-matching colours. But that was probably also the point - to have a helmet that stood out.

A really beautiful, simple signature helmet design, that of Gilles Villeneuve. I always preferred the simple designs of the 70s and 80s. Real signature designs indeed. Best proof of the strength of a simple design is Vettel's helmet design that he adopted when he joined Ferrari. We will never remember his zillion different designs he used at Red Bull but we will all remember this one... Enjoy the race guys. Forza!

Mikael and René,
I agree. A good sign of the overflowing waste in Formula One today are the customized helmets for each race. Next will be a new helmet for each free practice...
John Surtees drove with a plain white helmet, to which he applied one blue stripe lengthwise and one across, using colored adhesive tape, and was never mistaken for a Las Vegas billboard.
