Yep, nice fluent lines and no zillion winglets!
A great memory to cherish, JC. A nod is mostly enough if you're on the same wavelength. Great stuff.

Well they do not come much redder than the 1990 Ferrari. No they don't, and not much prettier also! Fantastic photo JC! A supremely beautiful photo, John Charles! The sensation of rapid speed is conveyed just by the wheels and tyres.

Thanks for the Lammers photo JC, great shot. Jan was very much in his prime at the time, a top class racer. And I want to say it is really wonderful that you are sharing your pictures here on the forum! Thank you!

Thanks for the Lammers photo JC, great shot. Jan was very much in his prime at the time, a top class racer. And I want to say it is really wonderful that you are sharing your pictures here on the forum! Thank you! I am pleased that you liked it René. It is a pleasure to be able to show my photos to such a discerning group of fellow enthusiasts. The majority of my many thousands of images have never seen the light of day, other than my initial inspection of them after processing, so that in itself is reward enough. Incidentally you say that Jan lammers was in his prime at the time of the photo above, he certainly was. Strange to think that was taken in 1990 and yet he had been driving in F1 for ATS in 1981, he still looked very young. One memory I have of him was either 1988 or '89 in the TWR Jag' at Silverstone for the 6 Hour event. Its as the first hour of the race and he and Eddie Cheever were running flat out in 1st and 2nd place, both absolutely "on it"; both were absolutely stunning to watch.

JC, Jan always looks young! Even in his sixties now he still has this boyish look and he can still drive fast! I like the man, always civilized and always a smile. And what you say about the Silverstone 6hrs just showes how good many of those guys are, even if they don't 'make it' in F1. Lammers and Cheever were both very good. Really looking forward to some more surprises from your photo archive.

Yes René, Jan always seems to have a certain youthfulness about him and as you say he can still drive quickly well into his 60's. I agree about the drivers like Jan and Eddie Cheever, really top class guys who were outstanding in Group "C" but just seemed to pass by in GP racing. I always rated Cheever, even saw him race in F3 as a 17 year old child prodigy, and that was back in 1975 when he drove a Modus at Silverstone. With Lammers; Warwick; Brundle and Cheever at TWR Jaguar it was a case of throw the red meat their way for those boys really did push, of course under the ever watchful eye of Uncle Tom. As for more photos I have a little treat here for you; it is monochrome and from the first practice morning of the 1991 British GP at Silverstone. The shot taken from the outside of Copse Corner just as the driver is about to turn in, bet you can't guess who it is . © John Charles

I always wondered about Eddie Cheever, he was impressive in F2 especially and seemed to remember him being not far of the pace in a Renault in F1 but it never seemed to happen and I thought he was pretty good at CART
I will always remember the story Derek Warwick told of them sharing a Jag for the 1st time at Silverstone and it seemed to be when they changed drivers, it became a bit farcical and Eddie and Dell started laughing until Tom Walkinshaw looked at them, and funny enough they stopped laughed very quickly
when Jan was driving the Shadow with Elio I didn't think there was much difference in their performances, although I did prefer Elio's smoother style but I never quite understood why one goes off to Team Lotus and the other didn't progress, I did wonder if it was money?
great picture JC, brings back a fond memory - sadly tinged when Gilles bounced that awful lump of car over the kerbs at the awful memory of Woodcote and soon retired, I was not happy about that race,

Just to whisper, if I may, that I never rated Cheever. He started well, but never lived up to his delusions. (I even met him once in Rome.) He was very good in sportscar, perhaps more to his (found) level than F1. Just my two pence worth. All disclaimers apply.

We arrived on the Saturday morning for first practice and it was heaving down with rain (strange that at Spa) and under stout brollies we entrenched ourselves on the outside of the Kemmel Straight. There were quite literally rivers of water running across the road diagonally; Cheever hove into view hard on the power and quite literally the front of the car seemed to patter as it hit these rivers of water, he didn't lift at all. I think he was under the shadow of Prost there and was never going to emerge from that. He certainly found his place in Group "C" as did a number of others, and believe me the standard there was high. Gilles was pretty impressive in 126CK at Silverstone that year, I have some where tucked away images of him spinning at Club Corner in Practice; he just kept pushing until he found the limit and more. He didn't touch a thing and just carried on, amazing skills and ability.

Thank you John Charles. Much appreciated. Riccardo with his son Lorenzo and Paddy Lowe, last year: Lorenzo started racing in karts last year, winning several races and coming second in the championship:

Lorenzo Patrese, that sounds good... and fast! And if see it correctly, he has the same helmet livery as his father. Good choice!
