Can't wait for next year. Hopefully will rekindle my interest in long distance racing.

Watched some great little YouTube clips last evening of the LMDp Cadillac and Porsche 963 testing at Sebring, the latter both in dark and light. The future looks very bright indeed and they both sounded very good but looked a bit stiffly sprung.

The future looks very bright indeed and they both sounded very good but looked a bit stiffly sprung. The drivers selected at this point by Penske/Porsche for the races in the World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship include the experienced works drivers Kévin Estre (France), Michael Christensen (Denmark), André Lotterer (Germany), Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium), Matt Campbell (Australia), Mathieu Jaminet (France) as well as the accomplished sportscar drivers Dane Cameron (USA) and Felipe Nasr (Brazil). Other driver announcements, including those for the endurance races at Daytona, Sebring and Road Atlanta (Petit Le Mans), will be made at a later date.

It is shaping up very nicely indeed, good to see Lotterer in the Porsche as he is a star and loves Historics apparently, and Seb Borders will be teamed with Rander in the Caddy, the former has already said it is fantastic.
Interestingly the Acura designed and built by Oreca has been testing in France this week with Ricky Taylor , will be primarily run in IMSA but will also fit the WEC rules as well so could well be at Daytona and Sebring.
Good news if F1 continue to shoot itself in the foot with dropping traditional venues like Spa & Ricard from a full calendar then the way is left for sports prototypes to take over and with no Ecclestone and Mosley to shaft them this time.

I had read that Lamborghini were also entering LMHp as we ll a few weeks back and thought that it may be with a rebrand of the now proposed Audi material (same group) but today they have revealed that they are entering in 2024 with their two factory GT drivers in a car designed by the French company Ligier. So more on the way .

I remember when IMSA held annual 6 hour races at Riverside in the 70s and 80s for its prototype and GT classes, starting mid-afternoon and ending about 9pm. With only normal track lighting, the sweep of headlights as a 962 hauled ass up the esses was super cool!
The esses are in deep shadow left of center in this photo showing the beauty of the California high desert
