And here it is, the dream finale of the greatest season in years between the best drivers in the world…. Ahum…. well… let’s hope the finale is more worthy of Formula 1 compared to the bumper car race we saw in Saudi Arabia. A mockery it was. _
Title #8 for Lewis or title #1 for Max, that is what’s at stake this weekend. An 8th world title for Lewis would be quite an achievement, no matter how you look at it. He has made the most of what he had at his disposal over the years, even if he had the outright best car for six of his seven titles. Only the 2008 McLaren was maybe equal to the Ferrari and this years Red Bull is also close. But again, he has done an outstanding job most of the time. Or... a first title for Max. The fact that Max was potential championship material was clear even before he came into F1. He was exceptionally fast and daring from the first day he sat in a gokart (probably at 2 years old! ). But it’s a shame his racing ethics are not always what we would like to see from a Grand Prix driver. His ‘winning at all costs’ attitude is very much like Schumacher’s and if that doesn’t change it will for always tarnish his achievements in F1. And many of the new fans (who vote him ‘driver of the day’ most of the time) believe that this kind of driving is the way it should be done in F1. Unfortunate. I truly hope we will see a clean race this weekend with an exciting top class battle between the two title protagonists. The Yas Marina circuit has been modified slightly by the same Italian company that worked on the Zandvoort track. Hopefully this will improve raceability on this otherwise boring track. So for the 22nd (!) time this season, bring it on!

My anticipation of the coming event which will bring a close to the season is not that great, too much acrimony and posturing.
I have been around long enough to have seen many a great season and the majority have been conducted with dignity and respect, something that has been lacking in 2021.
There was a time when you gave an opponent "racing room" but now if someone tries to go around the outside it appears acceptable that you can push them off track. This isn't a dig at Max as he is by far from alone in this respect and SLH has previous even though he tries to open the narrative of him being squeaky clean in this respect.
Max has spoken that he feels unfairly treated compared with others and this so reminds me of Ayrton Senna, and his actions are far more like him that Michael Schumacher. I believe the incident at Copse still burns strongly in Max, and not sure whether he will ever let that go.

I have once again chosen someone else, one of the few Formula One drivers untainted by childishness.

I am divided between interest and apathy, on the one hand is it right that there is one driver who wins a flawed championship 8 times or another flawed driver who wins it for the 1st time, and then there is the circuit, well I hope the Italians have used their natural flair and creativity to create something far better than the place has been, asI fear the circuit will be the 'winner' and F1 the loser.
Rene yours and JC's comments pretty much sum up my sentiments and I see the FIA is threatening points sanctioning if one misbehaves. Actually not a bad thought, just some 27 years too late for one piece of justice, my only problem is that if it did happen my word the legal ramifications would be enormous and the lawyers would be rubbing their hands in glee and then we would have a delayed WDC for years, probably be more exciting
It is also a farewell to F1 for the Kimster, his 'insights's ad observations' will be sorely missed and hope he enjoys his retirement, although a thought occurs - what with Rossi retiring from MotoGP wouldn't it be a hoot if those two raced together....
Having re-read my old Autosports I remember Gregor Grant doing his top 10 drivers of the season, awarding them 5 stars or whatever, it also reminded me of the 62 and 64 championship finals and what happened there, so who would be getting 5 stars and who wouldn't -

Great pole position for Max and Red Bull is in the attack mode starting on the softs. I'm going for Max. I've been critical about his often too aggressive style (to my taste) but looking at the season so far I believe he deserves it. More wins and podiums than Lewis and I would also like to see Honda finally win a championship again. And not unimportant, my dad was a Max supporter. Max is a boy from the south like us, hence....

Fan or no fan, that as one very special lap from Max and good to see Lewis acknowledge it without any "questions" about it too. Also very impressive team work by Red Bull and hats off to Checo being the ultimate team player, hope he gets a good result in the race himself.
Outstanding from Lando Norris as well, he even thought he could get pole. Carlos also besting Charles again, always thought it was going to be tight between those two, and can you imagine how strong RB would be if they had kept Carlos sweet.

Yes, I'm there - and all set and ready for it - finally! ... or was it just a dream ...

Looks exciting for tomorrow!
No matter what the end-result will be (tomorrow), it will likely be "the end of an era". If Hamilton takes the title, I think it will be his last. And if Verstappen nails it, it definitely signals a "change of guards".

whatever else that was some lap by Max, I understand it is on C4 'live' although I haven't checked, and because a cold has caught me I am not going to the motorbike show I will be watching it 'live' maybe muted, good luck to Nando and I wonder if he doesn't sneak in a win, which would be very special.
Between Max and Lewis - i fear the worst but hope for the best - a good race and a fair one
Excellent Mikael, Black Jack at his funniest at one of the best GP circuits and races, it figures in my top 10 Jim races, and dispelled many a critic of both Jack and Jimmy.

Just for fun...
You guys have no idea how crazy the atmosphere is here in the Netherlands right now. All the media, and I mean all from serious to entertainment, from liberal to conservative, all of them are all about this race and supporting Max. And I don't think there will be anyone outside at 2pm! Go Max!

Interesting that the whole Verstappen/Kumpen family simply "breathe motorsport". I wonder if Max's grandfathers (on both sides) were motor racers as well ...
