I think I could be one of those extortionists on Amazon that Carl mentions as I have a few motor racing books there for sale though my prices are generally the cheapest. I have over 150 books in my motor racing collection and I will have to sell most of them off as I move to smaller premises in the next year or so. The problem selling from SA is firstly airmail is expensive. Secondly surface mail is twice the cost of the UK and takes about three months. I have only had one complaint out of about 7 sales for slow delivery but that may have been the customer's fault in the first place. I don't mean to sound like a salesman but I may have something you want and I don't eg the Can-am books by Pete Lyons I have both hardback and softback copies.

Rob, no problem talking about motor racing stuff you have for sale. Maybe I could even add a new section for this somewhere in The Garage. If anyone has some racing related stuff for sale put it here. Would that be an idea? Any objections anyone?

Rob, What you are doing is entirely reasonable. I have a relatively small place that suits me perfectly, and I understand the need to conserve space. There are a few bad apples in every large marketplace. You're not one. If you have "Can-Am" by Pete Lyons still available, contact Jamie as he's been looking for a copy. Cheers, Carl

i also feel this is a good idea Rob, as I live in a modest dwelling and my 5000 odd autosports and Motor Sports, etc do make the attic creak a bit, worryingly, and have many many programmes, which I must start sorting out - as well as the books, oh and all my Jimmy paraphernalia, which includes 6 framed posters, oh and the DVD's and video's , maybe on consideration it would be easier to buy a bigger house but I still think it is a good idea Rob - perhaps you would be so kind as to let us know which books are available?

Always interested in Motoracing books if anyone has some bits and bobs for sale. I managed to get myself a copy of the Can-Am book so ok for that particular tome but you can never have enough books on racing! (My wife may disagree).

If you watch these two videos (full screen and full volume) you'll soon find yourself in Elkhart Lake and then at Road America with an authentic bratwurst in one hand and a ticket to heaven in your pocket.

Just to revitalise this great thread, a superb study of Peter Revson in his McLaren........ Whenever I see a photo of Peter Revson I cannot help but being reminded about his younger brother Douglas who was killed in a Formula 3 race at the track "Ring Djursland" in Denmark, in 1967. It was the most terrible accident that has ever happened at any Danish race. In torrential rain, three cars, among these that of Doug Revson, collided and somehow rammed straight into a group of people standing trackside. Among these were the owner of Ring Djursland, Jens Christian Legarth, who was hit "head-on" by one of the cars, dragged under it and killed. Five other persons were hit too and were heavily wounded, among these Legarth's wife. But she was brave - beyond words, really - and carried on running the track (imagining, I believe, that that was what her late husband would want her to do). Thus the track continued its existence and is now Denmark's oldest surviving asphalt track (beating "Jyllands Ringen" by a single year ...)

Thanks for the background info, Mikael. Never heard this before.
Such a wealthy family, so much going for them and then so much drama. That's life I guess...

Pete Lyons must be the most descriptive motor sports writer I have ever read. His description of Ronnie Peterson in the Lotus 72 at Monaco was another that made you feel right there. Michael May and his brother were two swiss engineers who first placed a wing on their Porsche in the mid 50s.

What can one say, except the most amazing race circuit.....who is this guy Tilke? Great films Carl, thank you.

Doug Revson's death had left my memory banks until I read your comment and I then recalled his passing in a F3 race, although the circumstances were not known to me. That was indeed one very brave lady and all power to her for keeping the venue alive, she has my complete respect.
