Indeed Rene, I agree.

Pininfarina's "Sigma GP" from 1969. Certainly different - but then again, not so very different from the typical GP car of that period.

Mikael, Thanks for refreshing my memory of Pininfarina's wonderfully beautiful design concept. I always wondered how practical it would have been in the throes of competition, but I suspect people would have admired its beauty and not cared!
Cheers, Carl

Fantastic concept and wonderful drawings! Given the fact this was launched in 1969, there were some fabulous futuristic ideas incorporated.
It still runs on my home circuit and not that bad either! Ferrari should have build it!

It's actually a 'golden oldy' by SCX and a bit toy like, especially the wheels and tyres. But a nice subject and model to have.

To add to the above I scanned this page from a book I have on Pininfarina. It's interesting that they got technical advice from FIAT and Ferrari but also Mercedes-Benz.

An interesting and impressive photo of the Auto Union Type D Grand Prix car for the 1938 season, with a centrally positioned super-charged V12 engine, producing 485 HP at 7000 RPM.
It seems hard to understand that this is technology from more than eighty years ago. Looking at the photo, this car appears to be closer to present GP cars than it is to the cars of the 1950's and early 60's.

I thought this car was brilliant, especially with the radiator shrouds on. They were taken off due to overheating and I am guessing March didn't have enough money to redesign them. Original budget cap restriction!

Original budget cap restriction! It is a very cool car. Have you ever done a scale model of the 711 Rob? I must build a model for my slot track once.
