René the thought of making a single lane hill climb track is appealing and could well be done in quite confined circumstances and yet still have a lengthy track. I do have quite a large Scalextric set but although having a sizeable property I do not have the room, so much "crap " everywhere. I also have a large Aurora set with numerous cars of different types that date back to the 1970's, great fun but not quite the scale model detail that I like, although that being said some are really good for such a diminutive size. I will think on about the possibility of the hillclimb track/ Here's some inspiration...

Now that is an interesting project, quite a lot of track in a relatively small area, and what a change in elevation.

For an even more compact idea, this one is also nice. A small car park. This layout reminds me of my test track in the parking lot of the Sherman Oaks Mall. There were several wonderful canyon roads nearby, but once in a while after dark when the mall was closed, I'd use the light poles as a slalom course, increasing speed until I scared myself. After mall security responded several times by turning off the lights, I decided they'd call the police if I continued, so that was the end.

lovely story Carl,
the supermarket car parks here are all shut of a night now, as they were used for exactly as you did by young people with souped up cars- so they use the roads instead....

C'mon Rene time to fess up-exactly how many slot cars have you got? You seem to have just about every slot car I ever wanted. Do you have a Matra MS80 and a Lotus 49 and a March701?

Rene wisely drew the line at the rally-prepared Trabant after being told the model would lower property values throughout his neighborhood

Brilliant René, that would be the BMW Junior Team 320i of Marc Surer, they were complete maniacs in that team and smashed hell out of one another in most races. Along with Surer there was Winklehock; Cheever and a few others who I cannot remember off the top of my head. Probably most of the March F2 team if memory serves.

A lot, never really counted them. Some will say too many, others will call it a modest collection...
I do have the Lotus 49 in several versions and also the March 701. Don't have the Matra MS80 however but I do have an MS10 and a MS120, both as kits that still need to be build.

Yep, Marc Surer's car of the BMW Junior Team. The model is by Sideways (as is the Ferrari 512BB) and they actually released all three versions, so Surer, Cheever and Winkelhock.
I bought only one car which shows I still have some control over my hobby...

Rene a lovely collection and enjoy it. I know what it is like to collect models etc. I had over 50 locomotives in my model railroad. I have an above average collection of Model Factory Hiro kits which I will never build but will be selling them off over the next couple of years.

It is hard to stop collecting once you start, I have so many that I do not know what I do have at times, well all the time really . Built 1/43 kits; unbuilt 1/43rd kits; Tamiya 1/12th similar; Spark, Minichamp and Quartzo 1.43rd built and then flaming 1/32nd Slot cars. Didn't I read that Mel Ault is producing a resin kit of the Matra MS80 in 1/32nd scale, that should go well with the 1969 Lotus 49B's; Brabham BT26 and McLaren M14 etc. Nice group of the BMW Junior Team there.
