Felix Rosenqvist leaving Ganassi at the end of 2020 and going to McLaren, interesting. Jimmy Johnson the NASCAR legend is doing the road courses in a third Ganassi car as well.

Indycar - St. Petersburg Lots of racing this weekend but only one title decider. The last Indycar race of this season on the Saint Petersburg road course in Florida will decide who's the 2020 champion: Scott Dixon or Josef Newgarden. Dixon has been the points leader since race one but that doesn't mean anything now Newgarden has closed the gap to within striking distance. Just think of the 2010 F1 finale or this year's Tour de France for that matter. But both drivers will need a perfect weekend to clinch the title. This could be a real cracker (unless Newgarden has problems early on of course). I like both drivers but my favourite is Newgarden so go, go, go Josef!

The street course in St. Petersburg compares favorably to the original layout in Long Beach as one of the very best. The racing is always very good and often seat of the pants exciting.
Qualifying today and race tomorrow!

The final title-deciding race at St. Petersburg was exciting throughout and chaotic at times, with Takuma Sato exercising his "a gentle touch and into the wall" technique on other drivers more than once.
The difference between this race and Formula One at Portimão was that the excitement at St. Petersburg never diminished. Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon each drove a perfect race and Dixon's third place easily secured the championship both would have deserved.
Pole sitter Will Power's early difficulty changing gears and avoiding the wall put him out on lap 6. A glove throwing fury by his abandoned car and, during a pitlane interview, a bizarre inclusion in overall blame of an optional ventilation component, suggested his retirement was probably best for all concerned. He is strange.
Alexander Rossi led by far the most laps until drifting wide into the marbles near the end, striking the concrete barrier a glancing blow at speed. James Hinchcliffe was in with a chance for the win before too much throttle exiting the final turn sent him into a gentle spin, after which he rejoined haphazardly, damaging his car and that of innocent Jack Harvey.
Rinus Veekay was doing very well until spun by first time driver, Australian V-8 Supercar champion Scott McLaughlin, who'll be a permanent 4th Penske driver next year. Poor Helio Castorneves's days are done with the new kid assigned his #3.

I watched the first half of the race and enjoyed it until excessive stream buffering drove me crazy and I switched off.
No doubt that Will Power is a very quick driver but he appears to lack the spark of the greats who can handle problems and still deliver. I really felt for the guy following his post crash interview.
Scott Dixon is a class act and that is certain, he was on the back foot through the weekend with a performance disadvantage but just drove through it. Couldn't believe Alexander Rossi throwing that away as he did.
What a drive by Sebastian Bourdais in not the best of equipment, class driver as ever and great that he will return full time next season.

Will Power can seldom attain balance or composure on bad days, but he's a good and likeable man and I also empathized with his anguish yesterday. He tries too hard sometimes and then is too hard on himself if the effort collapses. The very shrewd Roger Penske may have a subordinate keep a calendar to chart good days and bad days, and so far over the years the blindingly fast days and race wins must outnumber the embarrassing days. Alexander Rossi will relive his mistake for some time and be haunted by Colton Herta, his rival for fastest Andretti Autosport driver. Wanting to assert dominance within the team may have led to his mistake. You are right that Scott Dixon did have to drive a better race to prevail and his experience and intelligence won the day. Well said about Sebastien Bourdais, whose brilliance is just what A.J. Foyt's team has needed.

It was an exciting race with a good outcome in the end: a very deserved championship for Scott Dixon and a well deserved win for Josef Newgarden. I feel the race also showed why these two drivers are the best Indycar drivers right now. Both starting from low positions but in the end finishing first and third showed their class. Yes there was some luck needed but they drove strong and made no mistakes in contrast to many other drivers, most noticeably Alexander Rossi! I cheered for Josef when he took the lead and still believed in a miracle but Scott was driving so strong, not losing Josef out of his sight. And Newgarden did all he could do so hats off to him. A bitter sweat result for him as he said himself after the race but top level racing! A shame for VeeKay as it was not his fault and he was on a different but promising strategy. He was often the fastest car when in clean air. But hey, Rookie of the year is not bad for the young Dutchman. Next season he will win his first race, mark my words.

I really felt for Will Power also, I think he would have won that race in a canter without the mistake, his speed was unbelievable. He is too hard on himself, maybe some mind management courses might help him, he needs to chill some. I am so pleased for Sebastian Bourdais getting a full-time seat for 2021, no one deserves it more than he. I constantly think back to that terrible accident he had at Indy and to come back from that like he has is exemplary. Scott McLaughlan is hugely rated in the Antipodes and rightly so judging by his Supercar performances; it will be interesting to see how he develops next year. Shame in many ways that Marcus Ambrose chose the course he took as he was a phenomenally talented driver. I am also wondering how Jimmy Johnson will go at Ganassi next year on the road courses, he is no spring chick these days but what a legend and I believe he grew up on road courses.

I must get access to this series next year it really seems to shaping up very well, and I have a favourite in Jack Harvey - who really did deserve to be in F1 but then how many drivers have we said that about? incidentally not sure if true or not but Dixon has allegedly said he is after AJ's record total of 7 championships,
