i listened to it on the Beeb radio, it sounded a good race, marred only by the hysterical numpty who criticised anyone and everyone for 'not handling the pressure' whereas Jolyon was very impressive, he really has grown into his role and kept correcting the hysterical one, especially about the number of accidents at 'that' corner, then watched it on the C4 highlights, will someone please tell the compere he isn't very amusing and asking inane questions - about Charles, what is your middle name reflects more on you than anything else, oh for a decent interviewer...but it was a good race, really saddened for the Hulk, he really is becoming more like Motor Racing's equivalent of the UK tennis pre Andy at Wimbledon. Great save by Lewis - that was impressive. Charles will get there and once he does I suspect he will be very difficult to stop
well I did say Team Willy are getting better, and have finally earned a point, albeit somewhat fortunately but how the mighty fall,
you have to say Max drove a very good race and our beloved MotorSport have a feature and interview with him this month, I haven't had the chance to read it yet but looks good, but totally agree drive of the day was Seb, seemed so much calmer and in control, very impressive,

However, I'm going to join in the critism of the BBC Chequered Flag podcast team. I admit I do generally listen to their race preview and reviews because they do get good access to the Teams and drivers, but Jenny Gow and Jack Nichols irritate the heck out of me - their outlook is tabloid and jingoism. 'Hysterical numpty' describes Nichols well, and Gow is just pathetic. Palmer is the saviour, he must have awesome fishing skills, as he gets so much practice of winding the other two idiots back from outrageous statements and views. Palmer also does a 'Jolyon Palmer Analysis' series on the Formula 1 You Tube channel, it is exceptional, and all the better for not featuring the 'hysterical numpties'.

I am not certain on this but have a feeling that the commentator Jack Nichols might be the son of one Ron Nichols a long time commentator on various sports channels covering a variety of motor sports. Ron wasn't my most favoured as his voice grated like hell, but he has mellowed a little with the tasing of the years and isn't too bad these days.
Jack Nicholls appears to be cropping up all over the place these days also doing WSBK and Goodwood in recent months.
If my assumptions are correct he will be in a long line of nepotistic media personnel, joining the likes of Tee; Constanduros even Murray Walker, along with many from continental Europe.

Young Nicholls is very annoying and one reason to avoid Formula E.
I have to agree with the consensus that Hockenheim was very exciting overall. Both Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen were brilliant, and if Nico Hulkenberg ever has the pent up good luck denied him over the years, he'll win several Grand Prix in a row.

The only danger with three exciting races in a row is that the real problems of F1 are pushed to the background. I have heard many people (fans, commentators, experts) saying there's nothing wrong with F1 how it is. We need a boring race!

and that Rene sums up perfectly the problems, not just with F1 but on a wider scale, the show was good - let's ignore the future, it'll come and go and people will still watch, why change? the short-sightness is a woe to behold.
I would be interested at the year end just how many people actually watched the F1 circus on sxy and in other pay to watch countries vs the highlights on the very inconsistent C4 coverage, who could really do with a change in line-up as when you consider probably the most sensible one is young Billy but as DC's production company is behind it I would doubt it.
Jim, thanks for that - I will look out for Jolyon on utub - he really is someone who has risen dramatically in my estimation and feel C4 would benefit from him as opposed to the ex multi-millionaire owner. But what I don't understand with Jolyon, he was mighty in F2 and is obviously a pretty good driver whose F1 career never really got started is why is he not racing elsewhere?

We're having some good races, and Liberty Media, FIA and the Teams are getting on with sorting out the 2021 regulations and financial agreements without having to get involved in knee jerk reactions to fans and media bleating away about F1 being broken and needing to be fixed NOW! From what we are hearing about the 2021 regulations and financial agreements, things are going in a good direction. It seems that a cost-cap has been accepted, and we're not seeing Teams (or even Ferrari) threatening to leave, which is amazing, and positive. So, I'm enjoying seeing this patch of great racing, and the prospect that there isn't going to be a crisis to finalise the 2021 regulations. Now if only the WCC and WDC weren't a foregone conclusion........

I didn't mean it too negative, just hoping it's not used as an excuse to turn back proposed changes.

Careful chaps you are getting too enthusiastic . In reality the only reason these last three races were "exciting" was the fact that extreme weather conditions played a big part in two of them, and the other featured a battle for a place between two young lions. If it had not been for the weather conditions it would have been another MB dominance which I know we all love.

i do hope Liberty et al aren't a false dawn, but there is something exciting about the young lions, they seem unaffected by it all, and want to race and that in itself seems refreshing if a little strange to say
