Good point about Pierre, who would get the second RB seat? It would be too early for Alex so maybe Danni will get a temporary slot? I wouldn't be surprised at all if they (Marko/Horner) did another in-season driver swap, this time between Kvyat and Gasly. It would be too soon for Alex, I agree. That could damage his career. Leclerc fastest again! That looks good but Max is right up there with the Ferraris. Mercedes seems to struggle so this could be another Ferrari >Max battle.

A complete out-of-context comment, I know; but GrandPrix.com posted this kind-of-interesting photo of the "Racing Point"; and every time I see such a photo, I never fail to be impressed by the amazing mosaic of sponsorships they have managed to gather. There are even some really strong "Japanese money" in there: JCB, Japan Credit Bureau; the Japanese equivalent of MasterCard, Amex, etc., and NEC, Nippon Electric Company, a computer solution and personal computer manufacturing company that is very strong (here) in its home country (but perhaps not so strong outside Japan). Apparently, Mr. Stroll Snr. has been able to add a couple of strong Canadian companies to the collection as well: Bombardier Aircraft and Canada Life Financial Corporporation.

A complete out-of-context comment, I know; but GrandPrix.com posted this kind-of-interesting photo of the "Racing Point"; and every time I see such a photo, I never fail to be impressed by the amazing mosaic of sponsorships they have managed to gather. There are even some really strong "Japanese money" in there: JCB, Japan Credit Bureau; the Japanese equivalent of MasterCard, Amex, etc., and NEC, Nippon Electric Company, a computer solution and personal computer manufacturing company that is very strong (here) in its home country (but perhaps not so strong outside Japan). Apparently, Mr. Stroll Snr. has been able to add a couple of strong Canadian companies to the collection as well: Bombardier Aircraft and Canada Life Financial Corporporation.
Hi Mikael - you are probably right about the other sponsors, but seeing a potential Rich Energy / Whyte Bikes copyright infringement, I checked on that 'JCB with orange frame' logo. As an engineer it look very familiar to me, and sure enough it is! JCB - Joseph Cyril Bamford ltd - the manufacturers of my favourite construction equipment. I knew that they're into motorsport and performance - amongst other things they sponsored/built the JCB Dieselmax diesel powered streamliner currently the fastest diesel powered vehicle in the world over 560kph! Looking at their website, their reasons for being involved include - providing tools, equipment and workwear to the teams, and improving vehicle recovery from tracks. www.jcb.com/en-gb/about/sponsorships/racing-point

Could this be an option for Ocon? It seems that Mercedes aren't going to put him in their second seat, and he's a mighty quick young driver. We know that he can race wheel to wheel with Verstappen, he proved that in Brazil last year ;-) Joking aside, he's really good, probably available, and arguably better than the Toro Rosso options.

Dio mio. Che disastro! Just when you think things are getting better (FP1 to FP3) Ferrari find another (two) way(s) to fail. What a stressful season for the Team. I hope that Vettel and Leclerc can have clean runs in the races, and at least finish top 6. As Leclerc showed at Monaco, he can be a bit hot headed when he starts out of position, and Vettel really needs the overtaking practice.

Hi again fellow racers of the round table, In the midst of the gloom of another Ferrari tragedy, there is one event that I'm sure you will all join me in celebrating: Lance Stroll made it to Q2 for the first time with Racing Point, and the first time in something like 18 races! Go Lance!!! I'm expecting big things in the race.

I have not seen anything of qualifying or the Free Practice sessions as work on the farm has been a priority this past week. However reading about the qualification it is with utter dismay that I see Ferrari in such plight, this team are plain and simple going from one disaster to an even worse position. So very much was promised at the beginning of the year and I am certain we all looked forward to a mighty fight between Maranello and MB, but it cannot have been further from reality.
Ferrari have a very fast four time world champion who is at a low ebb following a mistake ridden 2018 and lack lustre 2019 who desperately needs some strong showings and when it could have happened at his home race Sebastian ends up starting from the back of the grid through no fault of his own. We then have their dynamic young star who should have won several races already and he is constantly hampered by mechanical failures and poor team support. OK Charles made one big mistake in Baku, but that was small in comparison to the teams total incompetence on other occasions.
Maybe the return of Resta will see the team turn a corner later in the year, and then moving on into 2020, however there are fundamental weakness' in that team that need sorting.
Onto other matters I really think that the Fizzy Drinks team need to continue with young Gasly, it is no good bringing Kyvatt back in my opinion, and as others have said it is far too early for Alexander Albon, he has great potential but a move this early would not be good for him. Other than that get Jean Eric Verne in the car, he was quicker over one lap than Ricciardo if slightly less consistent, but now he is a far more complete driver and I would back him to give Max a good run for his money.
I cannot see Honda going to Williams; why would they as the manufacturer supply two teams already and the Didcot team are not the most attractive of propositions currently.
From what I have read Kimi must have had a good qualification, the best for him and Alfa Romeo so far in 2019?
Reading here about JCB's sponsorship featuring on Forced Stroll continues a long period of involvement in motor racing. Bamford's may make some impressive plant machines but I am not particularly enamoured by Anthony Bamford as a person, compounded by his inelegant support of the Uk leaving the EU and his funding of Spaffer Johnson in his recent ministerial campaign. No doubt like James Dyson his personal wealth is held "off shore" and staying in the EU would compromise that issue.

I had imagined that the lettering "JCB" was a registered trademark, and was not aware of the British construction equipment company which, I found out, actually is some 20 years older than the Japanese JCB.
Yes, thinking about it, the credit bureau has a uniquely coloured logo; but the fonts are very similar, so it's interesting that "this goes" ...

It was difficult to follow the race as every few minutes I ran outside to change all four tyres, only to have inadequate grip after securing the last lug nut. The remarkable lack of adhesion throughout made me wonder about the compounds provided and whether ordinary Pirelli street-legal premium wet weather tyres might have allowed everyone to stay out of the gravel. With the ones on hand, a team that could reduce total bhp by 1/4 would have enjoyed the distinct advantage of less wheelspin.

A really enjoyable couple of hours. Mercedes humiliated in their home race. They deserved it. Their car livery was pathetic and dressing up in 1950s kit just stupid and arrogant. There was a serious race to run.
Sebastian had a great race. He made no mistakes and at least seven other top guys made serious mistakes, Hamilton, Botts, Leclerc, Verstappen, Hulkenburg, Perez, Sainz and Raikonnen all went off the road in a big way during the race. I don't think Seb even exceeded track limits and he was coming from the back of the grid.
A pity about Charles Leclerc, another learning point and once again the similarities to GV in 1978 are apparent.
Great drive by the Torro Rosso guys and Lance Stroll was excellent but then he always is in wet races. I think that kid is better than people give him credit for. Pity about his old man though.
It was great to see conditions mix things up and forcing the teams and drivers to think on their feet. Some of the much fancied teams who usually have it so easy looked pretty second rate when their algorithms were of no use.
An excellent drive from Max, even a 360 spin didn't rattle him. He is driving brilliantly this year.
My driver of the day was Seb and hopefully this result will put him back on track.

Another very exciting race, the third in a row! And I agree with Rob that it was a (malicious) pleasure to see MB mess up their race. The chaotic pitstop with Lewis was particularly fun to watch, typical Italian as some idiot experts always make us believe when something goes wrong at Ferrari. By the way, did you guys notice how the fans cheered when it went all wrong for MB? I don't think they see this team as really German. They cheered for Vettel though. Great win for Max even if he was a bit lucky to get away with a 360 but he has matured so much over the past twelve month. That first world title is not far away anymore. And another win for Honda with another Honda powered car in third. Well done Daniil ! But it's not unrealistic to say this was another race that Ferrari should have won. Had they qualified on the front row which seemed very likely on saturday morning, they would have won in both dry or wet conditions. But somehow it's not meant to be this year but at least Sebastian had a very good race. I am so happy for him and he was probably the only one who didn't make a mistake. Great drive. Halfway through I was convinced Charles was going to win with some great driving and very good strategy by the team but then he binned it! Ouch! A tiny error but a very painful one. The win was within reach again. You're right Rob, very much like Gilles in 1978 when he was brilliant and fast in many races but there were still these mistakes why he didn't win. But the first win did come and so it will for Leclerc. As for the MB livery and vintage team outfit, I kinda liked some elements and the thinking behind it but it was a bit too artificial. Clearly made up by a very expensive communication agency! I noticed by the way that most cars that crashed had a tendency to crash into a Mercedes billboard...

Is it possible young Lance merely sits in the car while driving coach Juan Pablo drives from the engineering truck, at the controls of a high-tech simulator? An entertaining F1 race thanks to the difficult conditions and the simple fact that driver mistakes were punished properly thanks to the areas surrounding the track. Maybe all tracks should feature a very slippery Drag Strip next to one of the main corners on all circuits from now on, something that Tilke could be encourage, to do should we continue to be lumbered with this guy designing tracks.
A very good drive by Sebastian Vettel to finish second, and as has been noted elsewhere it appeared pretty much faultless, although by his own admission helped by pace car intervention. This also helped Kyvatt and Stroll along with teams taking advantage with tyre changes, however that being said good to see Kyvatt getting a podium with the Toro Rosso-Honda (two Honda powered cars in the first three, wonder if that has registered with Teflonso yet). Danil capitalised by this but his hugely impressive team mate lost out, Alexander Albon for me was outstanding, even more so considering he had never driven a F1 car in the wet previously.
Heart breaking for Hulkenburg after a stunning drive that completely eclipsed Ricciardo, the punishment did not fit the crime. Lewis Hamilton really looked outstanding during the first half of the race, running out front and quicker than anyone, then came the mistake which was so similar to Charles Leclerc's but either by amazing skill of good fortune he kept it out of the wall, however it all went downhill after that.
It was good to see the MB steamroller come undone, and on theoretical home turf, but as René mentions it doesn't look s though the Germans really consider the team to be there own, but definitely they did Sebastian. The MB's team attire of 1950's style was ridiculous, only surpassed by Lazenby of S*YF1 wearing lederhosen after Verstappen's excellent win in the Fizzy Drinks Special. From my brief view it would appear that the French Canal+ presenters are far more adult and professional in their presentation, also the grid action of the French channel was much more technically orientated with detailed observation of what was going on with the various cars.
