Model Factory Hiro are releasing a 1/12 scale multi media detail set of the Maserati 250F including the 1957 German Grand Prix version. This kits are really super detailed and very similar to building a real car. This one even has the piston etc which for me will be fun even though you wowon't see them when built.

A stunning level of details. Really interesting! Yes, assembling a model like this would not be that far from building a real car. (It was in the "mechanical age" so even for the real thing there wasn't that much wiring - very unlike today's cars.)

Mikael, those are fantastic videos on Model Factory Hiro. I love it when the CEO says he only makes kits he likes. No plan, no special requests by customers, only what he likes himself! And what an amazing craftmanship, beautiful. The second video was indeed a bit more difficult to follow but still interesting!

Rene,
I'm unfamiliar both with Gilena publishers and the Joe Honda often mentioned on their website, but several of the books are interesting and that sure looks like Pedro Rodriguez...
Cheers, Carl

Books with collections of photos taken by "Joe Honda" are not hard to find here in Japan.
Here is a CNN portrait of Joe Honda (whose real name is Nobuyuki Jozuka), written by his daughter:
As to the "Model Factory Hiro" (MFH) collections, I have had a number of Joe Honda photo collections in my Amazon "shopping basket - to buy later" for quite some time now ... it is books I have been thinking about buying, but somehow haven't done yet. Upon checking them again just now it turns out they are all under the MFH label - I haven't paid attention to this until now ...

I have about 20 of them. They are really photo essays and have some excellent photos in them. They are especially helpful for building the MFH models as they have some excellent close ups taken at the time. A lot of detail books on bygone racers feature close ups of restored cars which means you can have fittings on that are not historically correct. Although about 99% of the captions are in Japanese it doesn't detract from the books. They are very reasonably priced.

If I really need a translation, I will just show it to Mikael!

I found another online store that sells these books for a much sharper price, Hiroboy:
They also have great kits and modelling stuff on offer.
