The big question after the summer break must be: "who can stop Márquez?"
The Spaniard won here last year and finished in the top 5 since 2013. But also Pedrosa and Rossi have a very strong record in Brno. And what about the Ducati boys or Johann Zarco? Bring it on!

I see Dani was quickest today. It would be nice if he could keep up his record and win one this season before retiring.
He’s usually good at Brno so why not a win here, the heat probably helps him? So my heart says Dani, but my head says Marquez.

It would be good if Dani could win this one, he was very quick this afternoon in FP2, as Jamie mentions the excessive heat helped him get the tyre up to a high temp that he normally cannot do himself because of his diminutive size. he is retiring from MotoGP but I heat he is very interested in racing at the Suzuka Superbike Endurance race, he ain't done yet.
Zarco seems more focused and was quickest in FP1, he seems to have sorted some personal matters and his life long mentor and friend is no longer managing him, but still his coach. We need him firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season.
I bet Lorenzo will be mega quick in qualifying, don't count him out.

Rossi quicket in FP3 bodes well, Maverick 11th doesn't, looks a great circuit and it always bemuses me just how much quicker some riders like Bautista always seem to go quicker when contracts are being discussed, although i understand he is riding a Ducati in WSB as well as testing for MotoGP along with some rides, something i hope to read Scott doing,
whatever else it will be exciting [as is the cricket- Kholi just been LBW and out!!] - arghh must get on....

Chris, The only thing that Scott has that may be similar to Bautista is the Aprillia test role with some talk, although not definite, od a WSBK ride. He has apparently been approached by Paul Bird with a view to doing BSB but he seems a bit fearful of the UK circuits and their safety; sadly the mentality of MotoGP riders and some entrenched in WSBK is getting very particular. Bradley has now had a rethink about retirement and is relishing the possibility of a test and wild card ride with KTM, and or, he has been spoken to by Rossi with a view to job with the new European Yamaha test squad. Cricket wise I do not listen or watch live transmissions these days but watch UK C5 highlights, sadly that has become spoilt for this individuals ears by the installation of a female presenter/commentator. I am no sexist but do we really need this overbearing need to display equality; fine if it is women cricket but......... Anyway pleased to hear that Kholi has been dismissed, he was lucky yesterday as Jimmy Anderson had him beaten umpteen times without luck, some absolute class bowling by the UK legend. Young Curran was mighty impressive also. JC

Cricket wise I do not listen or watch... fine if it is women cricket but... JC The mysterious and fascinating English ritual of "Cricket" was supplanted in the minds of some confused onlookers by the more easily understood musical genius of Buddy Holly and the Crickets and their even greater acolytes, The Beatles.
As to women on the pitch, while the sport will certainly not fade away, both Peggy Sue and Prudence remain reluctant to come out to play after being bowled over by Sexy Sadie, considered the latest and the greatest of them all.
"Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
and greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play" -John Lennon

Dear prudence..... what a record...won’t you come out to play.... Fabulous Dear Prudence is one of my favorite Beatle songs. I've always wondered whether Paul McCartney wrote the wonderful bass line by himself or in consultation with John Lennon, whose song it is.

Yes a fantastic track, one of my favourites also. Big Fan of the Fab Four, George being my favourite.
Are they still a big deal in the US Carl?

Jamie, Yes, but relatively unknown among millennials, which always amazes me but probably is how popular culture normally fades, although young people seriously into music certainly know and are awed by the Beatles. John was my early favorite, but over time they all were at different times. George really came into his own as a songwriter and his career after the Beatles was arguably the best.
My friend and I were at the 1978 Grand Prix in Long Beach, and were walking through the Long Beach Arena rather late on the Saturday afternoon when two men approached and passed by, one of them George Harrison! My friend and I both stopped and looked at each other with mouths wide open, but neither of us was inclined to scream and chase after.
I would have chased Blondie.

what a game, what a finish, neck and neck, tension built and yeahhh England won a memorable test, in fact that game proved more exciting for me than the recent F1 Grand Prix's - as my neighbours may testify, I have always listened to the cricket on the radio, even when Auntie used to show it on TV as it was so much funnier, sadly these days with no Johnners et al but still a subduded Aggers - who is without his sparring partner Boycs, is better than most. Well, JohnCharles I quite like the female commentators and welcome their participation- but as Murdoch and his minions have repossessed all that is cricket I have yet to see a womens Test match, oh for the day
I love the Beatles, wish there was more films of them pre-1962 especially in Hamburg but their talent is awesome, and i am always suprised when a young person i am working with mentions them and reveres them as well,
the collaboration between the 4 of them not only produced nearly 300 songs but the vast majority are classic and brilliant songs. Having read and collected so much info on the lads i am guessing but that bass line would have been Paul's but the song is John's who was always my favourite, always the rebel- sadly never getting to see him but I did see George at Donnington in 1979 driving a 1959 Cooper F1 car, and was glad he stuck to music, and George such a good guy, my Mother met him once at the Chelsea flower show, not sure they spoke other than to acknowledge each other - and George was a very very close second to John,
and to cap a day [sadly recovering from a self-inflicted hangover] what a qualifying session, and it even shut Steve Day up about Marquez for a second, Matt Burke at least shows reverence to all others- and Rossi, what a lap but Dovi well what a lap!
Yes Bird is saying he is openly talking to Scott who seems to be getting more opportunities, I do think the Aprilla test role/ WSB sounds a good move, despite my apathy towards the make, but what I am struggling with is understanding why one of the few racers who could mix it with Marquez in lower formulee has not succeeded in MotoGP,

Carl, one of the many circuits I would love to visit is Long Beach, especially in a time machine, 1978 must have been incredible,
perhaps wouldn't have chased Debbie, but may have trotted after her but definitley would have chased Stevie Nicks,

Reutemann and Villeneuve on the front row in their 312 T3s, Andretti and Peterson in Lotus 78s, Gordon Murray's Brabham-Alfa Romeo, one of three different 12-cylinder engines to mesmerize race fans.
I hadn't thought of Stevie Nicks, a more luscious beauty for sure She's now older and somewhat plump, but still a beautiful woman, whereas Formula One has not aged gracefully.
Cheers, Carl

I just love George Harrison.....I think he was a man of real depth and humility. The brilliant documentary ‘living in the material world’ is the only film that is perminately stored on my phone so I can watch it on the train whenever I feel the need.......god alone knows how many times I’ve watched it.🙂 And good to hear they are still on the agenda in the US. It’s the same here, I think the Beatles will always be in our national consciousness and even the young, those really into their music, revere them still. Good call on Blondie 👍 Wow, one of the first women to stir the very young Jamie’s blood.
