What a fantastic race, as the BT Sport commentary team suggested it had likeness to cycle racing as the riders rode as if in a peloton conserving their tyres for late race performance. The last few laps were stunning with Dovi; Jorge and MM pulling away and dicing hard. Great win for Dovi, but I had the feeling that Jorge should have had it however having to deal with Marquez lost him the necessary time to adequately size his team mate up. Great overtake of MM none the less, so much for Lorenzo not liking a battle.
The Moto2 race was also a blinder and a superb win for Miguel Oliveira on the KTM chassis after an intense battle with both Team46 bikes and Baltisari. I viewed this race via a stream from Fox which used the FIM feed and commentary, which was not particularly good as both presenters sounded like overwrought adolescents and their "ramping up" of MM younger brother was almost hilarious, one could almost sense the embarrassment when he threw the bike down the road.
I switched to an excellent HD stream of BT Sport's transmission for the main race and the quality was superb. Absolutely astonished to hear Keith Heuwen and Neil Hodgson making more positive noises about Scott for a change. Both commented about his Twitter page which apparently (I don't follow anyone as I have no time for this activity or social media, life's too flaming short) is very open and blunt and to the point. Neil suggesting that Scott would have been very well suited to the 1970's scene, more so than in modern times, just goes to show how being honest and open is now not the done or accepted thing; god save us from these politically correct times.

hear hear JC, have just watched it as the roads were calling my name earlier and i have not see so many bikes out this early on a sunday, always like to say hello to Scotland so a quick trip to the borders was called for:
the race was brilliant, gutted after the 3rd corner, did BT show what happened? Dorna just showed the aftermath and Smith protesting his innocence - was really hoping all three were going to have a good race, Maverick as he just needs a good race, will be interesting with a new race engineer now, Smithy because he does make blinding starts and Bradl because of that livery- ce la vie
I initially wondered if Rossi was going to do it, then Cal, but the nauseating sychophantic chairperson of MM's fan club, did rather spoil it, Steve Day its his first year as lead and hopefully BT will buy him, Matt Burke is much better and speaks of reverence to all, much more balanced, then watching the Lorenzo battle with everyone else - really impressive he really got stuck in and ruffled more than one feather, especially MM but Dovi, sheer brilliance, well thought out, calculated and a tactical victory - really impressive and wouldn't it just be great if he won a championship?
disapointed Scott crashed out - again didn't see what happened, but i am wondering about Aleix, the last tumble seems to have taken something out of him, or maybe the twins? but great Scott seems to be garnering support, hope this will be good-
Moto2, was brilliant, really competitive with fewer crashes than normal, gutted for Danny Kent, I have no idea what is happening there, but over the moon for Sam Lowes, brilliant race, but Olivera looks the real deal Moto3, again a great race but was so disapointed when John McPhee crashed out - although i hear he has a dream seat for next year?

Following on it would appear that all forms of motor sport are being "plagued" with tyre issues and their longevity during a race. We not only have F1 suffering from tyre issues but MotoGP, probably not for the same reason. Also during last Sundays excellent British Superbike round from Europe's fastest circuit Thruxton riders were cruising around during the first part of the races trying to preserve their tyres. Thruxton has always been very abrasive on tyres for both two and four wheeled motor sport, but BSB us having issues at other circuits as well. Maybe it is time to return to cross-ply construction .

I watched in replay on Fox Asia yesterday night the three races, while attending other issues.
Jesus H, those guys have testicles the size of coconuts. They put their limbs and lives on the line every metre of track. Dovi handling that Ducati with the rear going sideways in acceleration. I want to be a GP rider.
Moto 3 was outstanding, looked like a ballet.
F1 drivers in comparison are sissies.

John, yes tyres have become far too important in my view, they are obviously essential but F1 is a farce and MotoGP, well, I am torn, I would like to see less importance on the black magic, as three great riders are so effected by them [1] Dani is too small to generate heat [2] Scott is to big [3] Yamaha is too stuck with their electronic package but equally I love the clever riders like Dovi on Sunday but a little less emphasis would be good,
THruxton as you say has always been abrasive and very fast, scary for me, I never saw bikes race there but have fabulous memories of the real Formula 2's at Easter racing there, and the mighty saloon cars aka Rover V8's and Capris, awesome, which is why I reckon Peter Hickman was so good as it needed balls to do what he did

Chris,
Peter Hickman is rapidly becoming a real legend; two podiums at Thruxton having spent the night in hospital with a serious kidney infection the day before takes a very special man.
Funnily enough according to Shane Byrne who made an excellent addition to the presentation and commentary team from Eurosport, the riders absolutely love Thruxton even if it is mind blowing and fast. I loved back in the BTCC days of the 1980's and F3, a wonderful place. One lasting memory I have is the sight of James Weaver in a BMW CSi absolutely sideways every lap during a Saturday practice session, pure magic.
