This film caught my eye earlier today when on YouTube. I had not seen this before in all my previous searches and it is very good indeed, one of the American series "Glory Days" which have done some superb Can Am race footage.
One of the things that attracted me to the film was the early showing of the Ferrari 312P which in "spyder" form is to me more attractive than the later version in coupe form.
The film really captures the speed of these cars, which belies the fact that it came from right back in 1969. It also illustrates, as does the film I attached in Grand prix about the 1970 British GP, that you don't need ridiculous aero aids to be spectacular.

Another great film, John Charles! I used to watch "Speedworld" on ESPN almost religiously. Another great program with Dave Despain as host was called "Thursday Night Thunder" (later "Saturday Night Thunder") and focused on USAC Sprint Cars and their smaller brethren on dirt ovals.
A nice cinematic touch is at 9:12 when James Garner and Jo Bonnier are seen craning their necks in unison...followed by a large owl doing the same.
Sebring was always an extremely rough course, for which Porsche wasn't ready. David Hobbs' strategy for victory proved prescient as the wizened old tortoise wins the race.

Again a great race report of the golden years of sportscar racing. So wonderful to see the 'Fly Classic Collection' in live action! And what I said about the Brand Hatch F1 race also applies here. The races were way more unpredictable because of reliability issues. It's a difficult one this, modern race cars are technilogical wonders and race tracks smooth and safe but all this progress has also sanitized the sport to a degree (can you say that in English..?).

(can you say that in English..?). You can indeed and I completely agree. That's not to say that good reliability is necessarily a bad thing but it does remove one of the variables that previous eras had.

Too right you can, perfect English expression. Also spot on with the reliability issue, cars or bikes retiring or slowing due to technical issues were part of the game and did as you mention allow some unpredictability to every meeting. What we forget is the fact that these things being run today are in a way, how can I put it, falsely run, as they are no longer mechanical pieces of equipment. The computer and electronics do things which are to my way of thinking devoid of humanity. Much of the interference that computers and electronics employ on these cars is not available on road cars, to any great extent, and when it is what is the first and major problem encountered on a road car having a problem? Electronics are the scourge of modern car ownership, vastly complicated and as such no ordinary, or main dealership, garage can deal with it other than replace it ad hoc at huge expense to the owner.

Again a great race report of the golden years of sportscar racing. So wonderful to see the 'Fly Classic Collection' in live action! I had a feeling that you might bring that up René . The Porsche 908/2 Spyder is one of the very best Fly models in my opinion, it is the third Fly model I ever bought and the one I cherish the most as I adore that car. I have the "Seppi" & Brian Redman version from the Nurburgring 1000kms, just a fabulous little thing. It is a great shame that Fly didn't produce a model of the Ferrari 312P as that would have made a wonderful pairing.

John Charles,
Your assessment of the real effects of electronics in today's cars is perfect.

I think I have four or five different liveries now and every time I see another one I think 'hmmm, nice'. The 312P was done by Racer. Fantastic detail but slightly over scale so not a good pairing with the Porsche. I think it was Proto Slot that did a good resin shell ones that fits a Fly chassis. Unfortunately I don't have that one. Yes, it's time someone did a descent 312P!
