Rene', it's part of my research, I have found some books which treat issues I am dealing with in a different way and I am studying them, see how they can be useful. Thank you.

Hi Rene The only race meeting worth attending is a race retro meeting in late January which David Piper and co used to attend so there used to be some exotic machinery including a Ferrari 312 PB on one memorable occasion. Unfortunately it clashes with another annual event I attend each year so I don't get to go plus the field has declined in quality over time. Motor Racing does not have the big sponsor appeal in SA that it had in years gone by so the standard and interest has dropped considerably in my mind. If, however, I ever get to be in Europe/UK I will try and ensure it is around a weekend that has s decent motor racing event and then I will let you all know in the hopes that we can meet up.

Sad to hear of the decline in watchable motor sport events in South Africa Rob. However if one explores the bigger picture it is much the same world wide, well it is in my opinion. Of course there are the big "blue ribbon" meetings in many countries but other than that there isn't a lot to inspire one to go out most weekends to watch. I am sure there are still some great club meetings at places like Castle Combe, which was quite close to where I used to live in the UK. One always had a good day out there.

sad but true Rob and Sir JC,
although when you look at events such as Monaco historic and Goodwood they are basically oversubscribed, and I am aware of the big historic events in the USA are the same, so on the one hand motor car racing seems to be in decline bar historic events and yet motor bike racing, be it national championships or international seem to be thriving, and I feel the two have something in common,

The powers that be (whom so ever they be) just don't get it, do they. Here are a few words they might do well to understand:- Spectacle. Sound track. Accessibility. Opportunity.
