Interesting that a single team (LCR Honda) is allowed to run, simultaneously, with two different liveries in MotoGP. As is well known, that is not found acceptable in F1.

Austrian Grand Prix - Red Bull RingWith Bastianini's win in England, the championship is getting more exciting. Jorge Martin is leading the way in FP1 and Pedro Acosta suffers a major crash but the Spaniard was able to walk away unscathed from the incident.

I managed to watch today's practice and my word second practice was seriously exciting, it was so strewn with accidents it was sheer good fortune no one was seriously injured, all Di Giannantonio is in the medical centre as I write.
So many machine updates so many rider negotiations for next year, so many signings - it really is silly season times.
Ducati were always down to dominate and sure enough the 1st four are all Dukes, Pecco leading the way, with Morbidelli who has signed for the VR46 team for next year, 2nd and Martin 3rd, just to say Marc M has listened to the criticism of him getting grid positions on the back of others, now others are doing the same to him!
The Aprilla's were occupying the bottom positions until they put on the soft tyres and lo and behold they are now 7th and 8th,
The top ten contains 7 Ducati's the only other interloper was Brad on his KTM although Pedro and Jack were 11th and 12th, Jack in serious negotiations to ride a Yamaha next year.
The Yamaha's looked better and I am expecting more from them, the Honda's also seem to be experimenting with just about everything - the surprise poorest performance are the Trackhouse Aprilla's who are 18th and 19th and that i snot good.
If the race is anything like today then we are in for a mighty race

Aragon Grand Prix - Motorland AragonFrancesco Bagnaia has taken back the championship lead after his dominant victory in Austria. And now the circus is back in Spain, a home race for Jorge Martin. That will surely give him wings to strike back!

thanks to the technical problems broadcasting [scream] I missed the pre-qualifying yet MotoGP managed to at least get us coverage for the qualifying proper, my word, scary.
Marc Marquez in the dry was 0.842 faster than Acosta and Pecco, this does not bode well for either the sprint race this afternoon or the main event tomorrow,
shock of the day? factory Aprilla riders Aleix and Maverick 11th and 12th and nowhere near - that, bodes even worse,
impressive of the day so far and I really hope he gets a good race, is Johan Zarco. Not only did he get through to the top ten for the first time this season he finished 10th ahead of the factory Aprilla's

Marc Marquez didn't just dominate he slaughtered the opposition - truly putting everyone to the sword, the destruction was made complete by his brother taking out Pecco in a shall we say 'strange' accident, which fans of Marquez inc say was an accident and everyone else completely at a loss just how it happened and every conspiracy thinker plotting all kinds of things.
Good ride by Acosta to take 3rd finishing just ahead of his team mate Brad -
Unusually the worst team of the weekend was not Honda but Aprilla who were appalling, almost as if they had gone backwards two years, with Maverick retiring prematurely as he was not only last but had zero grip and described his bike as unrideable.
Martin rode well but knew he was outclassed - a wiser Jorge just took the points and retained the championship points lead. I am guessing here but I wonder if Ducati are starting to think who do they want for champion, a hugely popular Italian or a Spaniard who will drive for Aprilla next year,
a real special mention must go to Moto2 winner Jake Dixon who dominated the race with some clever riding and lots of skill, he also dedicated his victory to Sylvan Guintolli's son who has been diagnosed with cancer, a real emotional tribute. And the guy who Ducati signed for next year -oops another poor decision?

Did he expect Bagnaia would yield right of way? Stupidity is an accident of birth and bestows no special privilege.

as I was away I deliberately avoided the results on the Sunday, and oh wow was there some miscalculations, especially Jorge and the Aprilla's who again were nowhere
Marc Marquez took full advantage of a slippery circuit with nothing to lose and of course sticking one on the locals is always an added bonus Pecco rode carefully and secured a clever 2nd and Bastianini 3rd, Some good rides elsewhere - especially Fabio
The big news subsequently is a test day that followed the race, and yup they are testing a rider radio system, and that has immediately caused rows, some like it some detest it,
Testing was impressive for the likes of KTM, Honda and Yamaha so hopefully that will make them more competitive in races to come. However, the quickest remained Pecco, with Frankie 2nd, he really is getting back up to speed. Fabio was 5th and Maverick 9th the quickest Aprilla

The networks too often act like parasites draining whatever they can from motorsport

apparently the radio thingy is being introduced for safety reasons primarily, however it will also link the pits to the riders and 'advice/ guidance' call it what you will be 'offered' to the riders - so immediately everyone is now talking about Kimi Raikkonen again, and yup it may will be broadcasted - I'm in two minds of this, as a motorcyclist who is in contact with his fellow riders when out and about the contact is really helpful, slippery roads, hazards, clear to overtake, dodgy drivers, bad jokes, etc and it really has been beneficial yet on a track 10000% divorced from my reality would I welcome an engineer telling me to slow down as I am overheating the tyres. Or will it go even further F1 and have a bank of strategists miles away analysing everything in order to tell how the rider to ride, yuk! as Kimi said "leave me alone I know what I am doing"
Talking of which Michelin have introduced a new front tyre that is much less effected when following another bike closely - this really could be great news for MotoGP as the characteristics may well suit the Italian side of Team Ducati and less so the Spanish side, we will wait and see,
The other big technical 'experiment' is Aprilla loading the riders with sensors [aka Hollywood] so they can measure how they move around the bike, and which is the optimum position, could be interesting

Those in power often give good reasons for bad decisions.
How many internet geniuses claimed they were "making the world a better place"?
