It is high summer so the race on the small, winding track near Budapest is just around the corner. Much attention will be paid to Daniel Ricciardo's 'second debut' in the Alpha Tauri. We shouldn't expect miracles because the AT is the worst car in the field so far. But of course it's about Danny getting back into the race rhythm and how he performs compared to Yuki. Who will win the race is certain so the focus will mainly be on who is the second team this weekend. Can McLaren continue Silverstone's super performance? Or is it Mercedes or Ferrari again. Or Aston Martin of course, but they really seem to be falling back a bit. Anyway, this time no last minute trip to Hungary for me because Spa is already next week and that's a bit much in a row!

Enough going on but not much to say... rain and a crash from Checo. The pressure is obviously messing with his head. He says it's not but that's a bit hard to believe by now. I'll say it again, Danny Ric will be in that car next season, no matter what Horner says. And if Sergio doesn't watch out, he'll be gone before season's end!

I actually like the Hungarian gp in person and realise that it’s 16 years ago since I was there-ouch and then to compound my ageing problem I realised it was 40 years ago since I went to the Belgium gp oops
Am hovering between Lando and George and in all honesty I would really like either of them to break the cycle, I know Max is not exactly the most sensitive of people but an unsettled team has tended to implode not sure the fizzy drinks lot will but it would be nice if they did and Rene I totally agree Daniel is more than likely going to be Max’s understudy next year
I have always thought Checo would really do well in sports cars his smooth ability to manage his tyres would be a real asset to any top team

Don't start Chris! I was there in 2003 when Alonso won his first race, 20 years ago! And then of course again last year. I like this race too. It's a small and twisty track, Mickey Mouse as they called it back in the 80s, but it's a good layout. And Budapest is a great city to visit. Anyone but Max would be good for me. A win for Lando would be fantastic. But... my hero Charles was fastest today! But only by 0.015sec! Lando second and Pierre third. Red Bulls way back down in 11th and 18th. That can't be their real speed but they didn't look particularly fast so far. They brought a major aero update so I guess they are maybe struggling a bit to find a good set up. But expect them to be up there again tomorrow.

Pfew, finally not a Red Bull on pole!
Great lap from Lewis and the McLarens were looking sharp also. And what a qualy for Alfa Romeo. Disappointing for my team but the race could be a cracker. I was right about Red Bull's upgrade and the fact they didn't find the right set up yet. At least that is what Max said.

I forgot to vote for who would win. I hope this doesn't spoil my perfect record! Dozing in my chair is one indication I thought Hungary was tedious. David Croft nonetheless becomes excited whatever Lewis Hamilton does. When Hamilton regained fourth position as he passed (I believe Oscar Piastri) into the first turn, the bellowing presenter (and one fan in the grandstand) thought it was tremendous, apparently unaware that Hamilton's wide open rear wing made the pass almost as easy as falling asleep.

I think I fell asleep just after the first pitstops. After sleeping in my chair I finally got up and went to sleep on the couch. Hopefully the magnificence of the Spa circuit will keep me awake this Sunday.

Likewise guys, a bit of a borefest. Was it also this bad during the Schumacher/Ferrari years? Can't remember but Max's dominance is total, almost unreal. I'm happy for McLaren. With the Hungaroring almost the opposite of Silverstone, it's clear the update is not a one off wonder. More podiums and maybe a win when Max has a mechanical failure (it's about time) are on the cards. Strange how the form of Mercedes and Ferrari swing up and down. Not only between races but also between qualy and race. Aston Martin is losing out in the development race. I am going to Spa as usual and have great tickets opposite the pits but I have little hope of a good race. My enthusiasm is less than previous years I have to admit...

I think it was only 2004 that Ferrari were this dominant in terms of winning races but not in terms of spare capacity in the car and reliability. This is even more boring than the Mercedes years.

I can’t get away from the reality that F1 could learn so much from the IndyCar Series firstly with getting rid of the wretched Drs thing, I tried to listen to it but switched off after the first corner and focused on some brilliant racing at Brands Hatch with the BSB

This is even more boring than the Mercedes years. That didn't seem possible until recently!
