As I promised Jamie here is a image that I took during the 1990 Silverstone Endurance Rnd. It features the glorious TWR Jaguar XJR11 in the races early stages driven by the supremely impressive Jan Lammers. The photo was taken on one of my favourite spots when Silverstone was a proper circuit, the car having exited the very quick Abbey Curve and levelled out before approaching the newly installed chicane. A very fast bit of circuit at that time.

Fantastic photo! Magnifique! Jan in the Jag was a good match.
Really great to share self made pictures by the way. I will try to scan some more I made over the years. Nothing as professional as yours but some are really nice.

God I love group C 😁 I was at the 1988 Brands Hatch practice days with my Dad and late (much lamented) Uncle as they used to be involved with the Chamberlain Engineering team at the races sometimes and I got to tag along. I have a very vivid memory of being on the pit wall where the cars pass close after exiting clark curve at full chat......my god, the noise those XJR9’s made was spine tingling! The ground shook as they went past......real racing cars, happy days. I always preferred the look of the later XJR in your photo, I liked the clean lines. You should publish a book Charles 👍

I believe one of Jamie's favourites the Aston Martin AMR1 Callaway V8 powered at Donington 1990. For race day the light deteriorated hence the rather dark image, but the dayglo identification bits certainly show up. © John Charles

Fantastic John! It is indeed one of my favourite race cars and second to only the C11 in my book.......it sounded wonderful and of course, Brian Redman drove it so it’s hard not to love....

Great Jamie. I think that is Michael Roe at the wheel in my photo. It was indeed a thunderous sounding device, buildings used to shake when it went past.

The '80s were properly mental with Group C in sports car and Group B in rallying.
Although it was unsustainable in the long-term, they were great cars.

in the 80's the motor racing was just so exciting, I guess this is part of what makes it so difficult for so many people to relate to WEC or F1 now, and why historic racing really has grown and grown, certainly when looking at the events that I want to see this year, aside from the motorbikes, most of what i am pencilling in are historic meetings, and I don't think that is too unusual nowadays,
unfortunately Lucio you were quite right, the power and speed of these Group B, C's and F1 was unsustainable and the tragic accident to Henri really put the whole thing into perspective, and yet I wonder had the FIA followed Tony Pond's suggestion and just banned the turbo's what may have happened, but we'll never know
However, weren't they just toxic in their excitement though
