Portuguese Grand Prix - Algarve International CircuitFinally, racing on two wheels has also started. But it is certainly not a quiet start with the crash of Pol Espargaro and also a lot of dissatisfaction about safety and the renewed weekend schedule. Jack Miller fastest so far with a new lap record!

And so it starts, a new chapter of moto gp commences with a sprint race, marred by a serious accident in practice for Pol Espargaro and all the best wishes to his recovery, and then Enea broke his shoulder in the race, not a great start, what was good, was the racing, Pecca was awesome and clever, a very competitive race that was definitely worth watching

Argentinian Grand Prix - Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo
With two wins in respectively the sprint race and the feature race at the Grand Prix of Portugal, reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia and Ducati got off to a perfect start. Can anyone compete with Pecco in Argentina?

No Marquez, no Olivera no Bastianini no Pol, that is not a good start 4 riders out injured in the first meeting, so fingers crossed that this weekend people are a lot more careful and injury free.
The who will win? it is looking very likely to be a Ducati, Martin is racing with something to prove and Johan was very quick at the end of the race, the KTM's fooled everyone and with those two chargers anything is possible, however, my money is on Aprilla, I seriously think Maverick will win this weekend, he is in a good place and the bike is working well, the main opposition will be Pecca as you say Rene and Aleix may have a point to prove, however I do think that once Olivera and Maverick get into their stride he will be eclipsed. What of Honda and Yamaha, for so many years the dominant figures, Joan will be in the top ten if he finishes, as will Alex but that will be that, of Fabio I do hope he does better here but I just can't see it just yet, hopefully I am wrong and he blitzes them all,
more controversy from Honda about Marquez's amended ban. pahh!

Can anyone compete with Pecco in Argentina? Francesco Bagnaia has told his race engineers about his closest rival, an English rider with initials C.C.S.B. In this photo, Francesco demonstrates how he plans to bite the rear tyre of his rival's Triumph.

yeah, watch out Ducati! I am coming! in saying that the weather has been so dreadful here I desperately await the sunshine and great roads,
Neither John or I were / are fans of Mark Marquez, in fact given the latest shenanigans I could imagine John ranting about the duplicity of Honda and how they are getting around the rules yet again, whether Honda or the FIM are is debatable, but one race into the longest season in memory something like 46 races we are already enveloped in controversy. Marquez was given a double long lap penalty for the next race but is injured so will miss the Argentina race, and initially wouldn't have to serve a penalty at the Texas race, a place he has won many times at, so the FIM have now changed their rules to ensure he does serve his penalty at Texas, only that is breaking their rules, you couldn't write this, oh, we have....not a great start to the year, a very long year for everyone.
a footnote for the Portuguese races, Moto3 was exciting but a poor race for the Brits, Moto2 was won by the next great Spanish rider Alcoba, but great rides from Jake Dixon starting from 12th and finishing 6th and Sam Lowes who was 18th at the end of the 1st lap finishing 7th, good rides by both and hopefully on the podium next time around. Racer of the day for the MotoGP, no not Pecca or Maverick, but Johan who finished a brilliant 4th.

Americas Grand Prix - Circuit of the AmericasTwo different winners so far this season, Bezzecchi and Bagnaia, but Ducati calls the shots. Also a strong start from Johann Zarco who is third in the championship. John was a fan of his so let's hope Johann finally wins this year. And not becomes the Chris Amon of MotoGP as John once said. Marini fastest in FP1 and Martin in FP2.

a good race spoiled by so many bumps and crashes, a great win for Valle's team and some miraculous rides, I am not a fan of the sprint race so far - it really isn't bring anything for me, and whilst I watched it with intent I found myself losing interest - hopefully the return to Europe may well rekindle my interests

Spanish Grand Prix - Circuito de Jerez
Back in Europe and with three different winners so far (or do we count the sprint races too?) there isn't really a favorite yet. However, the Spanish fans will have to do without Marc Márquez, who is still recovering from surgery.

This is one of the few European MotoGP's I have actually been to and whilst the getting there was an adventure in its own journey, the ride to Bilbao was a ride of immense proportions and exhaustion riding over 600 miles [1000 kms] in one day, I was a wee bit tired to say the least - the actual race wasn't great and I found the circuit not that interesting - not sure what the riders think of it but I do have the tee shirt
difficult, despite Rins's recent success, to see past the Ducati's and their barrage of talent, Bastianini is hoping to be there but Marquez won't be, will be interesting if that impacts on the race attendance, I would suspect not
now the good news, the Kazakhstan round has been cancelled

my word the sprint race was another event full of drama, 1st start being red flagged due to a 4 bike pile up on the second corner, and the re-started race full of great enthusiasm, pre-qualifying favourites Aprilla did not have a good race, although Miguel Olivera's 5th was pretty impressive, stars of the race were Danny Pedrosa's 6th place, yup Danny Pedrosa, on a KTM - rode really well, but the two factory KTM's were outstanding, with Brad Binder winning in the end from Pecca with Jack 3rd,
just as well the weather is so miserable here, what with MotoGP, BSB from Oulton Park and the Spa 6 hours courtesy of Eurosport, and Eurosport at around £35 a year surely must represent the most incredible brilliant value for money online thingy and the commentary is so much better than certain other parties, wonderful

I watched the race whilst on the ferry and so disappointed that Maverick and Pecca decided to hand the victory to Bezza as Maverick looked like a good prospect - to no one's surprise Marquez crashed out but apparently he was quite happy with the pace, I haven't really had a good chance to watch it properly and our French friends were sort of half celebrating with a 3rd place for Johan, Fabio on the other hand was not a happy bunny and Yamaha do need to improve and quicky
