It's interesting how similar modern single-seaters can appear to someone less well versed (ahem!) across a decade or more. What I do remember is the great speed of the early 2000 era, with some ultimate lap records still from that time. On the subject of resemblance, was the bald guy giving orders at Laguna Seca once connected with the Wagner Group?
I know my Ferraris, Carl.  ... a friend of a friend of a friend... is Roger Penske also involved?  |

Obituary - Gil de Ferran An unexpected and sad news just before the end of the year. Two-time IndyCar/Champcar champion and Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran passed away suddenly at the age of 56. Cardiac arrest would be the cause. The likeable Brazilian was also sporting director at BAR-Honda and McLaren in Formula 1. Rest in peace Gil

Rest in peace Gil A great champion who was also well-rounded and liked by everyone. His death by heart attack while racing was eerily similar to that of Denis Hulme.

I was terribly saddened to hear this tragic news, Gil always came across as one of the nice guys who was a brilliant racer ,

Eeeeh I have sat in that car! loved the colours, it was at an exhibition in Birmingham and I was allowed to sit in it, sadly no photo of me sitting in it but there is a picture of me standing by it with Scottish rugby great Gavin Hastings in the background
not sure what is happening but TwitX or whatever it is now called is posting loads of pictures of the Indycar drivers
