Another well known French racing driver has left us; Parisian Jean-Pierre Jabouille has died at age 80. He won two Formula 1 Grand Prix with Renault, the most famous being the 1979 French Grand Prix which was the first win for Renault in F1 and the first win for a turbo car. And of course his first win which was sort of overshadowed by the legendary dual for second between Villeneuve and Arnoux... maybe typical for Jabouille's career. A very good driver but also very unlucky on many occasions. In 1980 Jabouille won the Austrian Grand Prix. And here a few pictures from my own archive. Jabouille's car, Zolder paddock 1980. And again at Zolder, this time 1982 standing next to the Ligier of his brother in law Jacques Lafitte. Rest in peace Jean-Pierre Jabouille.
