Mauro Forghieri has died aged 87.
The most iconic Ferrari engineer who was responsible for some of the most iconic racing cars in history has passed away. From legendary prototypes like the 330P4 or 312PB to the most fantastic Formula 1 cars over several decades. The 312/312B and 312T series belong to the most beautiful and successful F1 cars ever.
Another brilliant mind has left us. If John is catching up with Jim and Colin, I'm sure he will also want to have a chat with Mauro!

This is a photo I made at Zolder. Mauro Forghieri talking to Didier Pironi.
And I like this photo also. Jody and Mauro, champions.

Many thanks Rene, a lovely tribute to a great engineer. That P4 looks absolutely gorgeous from that angle. The most beautiful car ever built? To my mind yes.

Forgot to mention above that Mauro was also the chief engineer responsible for the Ferrari 158 in which John Surtees became champion.
