Carl, it was a good race and a good win for Joseph. Always a joy to watch a race at Road America, even if I had difficulty stepping over my disappointment yesterday which kinda ruined my racing joy.

René, It was a good race, very exciting with aggressive passing attempts and doors slammed defensively, and several dumb maneuvers near Turn 5, one which left Will Power understandably furious. I always enjoy seeing the many places I'd been to in the past. Where I bought my first bratwurst, where I'd gotten another, where I briefly encountered David Hobbs and Augie Pabst. Road America is a wonderfully rare combination of fantastic circuit and beautiful location. The only drawback is that rooms at Siebkens Inn are never available, which is why I claim to have stayed with two of the Hawaiian Tropic ladies. No suite was ever sweeter! Cheers and bonne chance on Île Notre-Dame! -Carl

Mid-Ohio Sports Car CourseAfter magnificent Road America, the Indy community has arrived at another great track; the sports car course at Lexington, Ohio. Rolling hills and challenging corners in a beautiful landscape. Josef Newgarden leads Alex Palou and Felix Rosenqvist in FP1.

René, As you posted, Mid-Ohio is a great track, home course for Bobby and Graham Rahal, and one of the finest natural road courses in America. With Formula One at Silverstone and IMSA Prototypes at Mosport, there may not be enough time for breakfast or lunch, so racefans may have to fast all day. -Carl

This is gonna be good and a great chance for O'Ward to move up in the points with Power and Newgarden further down the grid.

A great race at Mid-Ohio, as Roger Penske once again demonstrated his knack for choosing great drivers, with Kiwi Scott McLaughlin leading almost all the way, Alex Palou adding valuable points in second and Will Power driving superbly onto the podium after a first lap mistake dropped him to last.
The best pass was by Rinus Veekay, who passed Newgarden and Dixon into 5th place with a single bold move at Turn 6 on lap 40, simply amazing! The most contentious was the coming together twice of Andretti Autosport teammates Alexander Rossi and Romain Grosjean

Absolutely a great race and that VeeKay pass was awesome! And yep, Penske still has a nose for talent. McLaughlin is really good.
Somehow it is not going the way it should for Colton Herta. He has the speed and the talent but is missing consistancy. Sometimes his own fault and sometimes not but with F1 in the back of his mind he needs to up his game. I have said this before but that's because I want Colton to do well...

what a wonderful circuit -
Rene, you talk of Colton I also think of Graham Rahal and Jack Harvey why are they so far back? both in my mind are potential winners but neither seem to be doing anything special and I don't understand why

Toronto Street Circuit
It's been almost 3 years since the IndyCar series last visited Toronto. The fast and challenging track at storied Exhibition Place with the Toronto skyline in the background always delivers exciting racing. Scott Dixon, Will Power and Josef Newgarden have all won here before so must be among the favorites for this weekend. But what to think of Alex Palou, Pato O'Ward or Colton Herta who's always spectacular around a street circuit. Certainly a lot to look forward to!
And what to think of all the talk/rumors? on Alex Palou's shock McLaren move? And it's not just a move to the IndyCar squad Arrow McLaren SP. It's a move to the McLaren family with a possible F1 role. Test/reserve driver in 2023 and replacing Ricciardo for 2024? But they also have O'Ward and Herta on the program. Intreguing...

Thanks, René! You are often ahead of me with Indy qualifying results and I've learned to check our website first. It's nice to relax and see the highlights!
This street circuit is fast but narrow, bumpy and ominously dangerous. Turns 3 and 8 are the greatest challenges and I remember Alex Zanardi astonishing everyone at Turn 3 with his late braking inside passes. The short front straight and the fast sweeping turns leading onto it can entice ambitious drivers into mistakes. Toronto rewards 8/10ths and punishes 9/10ths, plain and simple.
With good luck, Alexander Rossi and Colton Herta should be one and two...
Cheers, Carl

I may never be sure what happened, but the Indycar broadcast on NBC's streaming service (Peacock) was spasmodic and here- and-gone dysfunctional for a while before disappearing completely before half-distance.
My relationship with broadcast technology has been wanting of late. Once or twice today my inclination was to find a Luddite community and join. Congratulations to Scott Dixon
