Last evening while looking through YouTube films something that was "recommended" came up and as it fits here I will post a link. It was a short interview with Ayrton Senna before the 1985 British Grand Prix and I think it is quite delightful. We see a young Ayrton as we should all remember him, I like this . It also features the gorgeous Lotus 97T. I remember the race with Ayrton duelling with Alain Prost and hoping that he would prevail, but in the end the Lotus wasn't up to the job and Prost won.

Senna seems very happy and relaxed and unstressed. I recall reading that, for him, at that time, Lotus was the very pinnacle of Formula One (and of motor sport in general) as it was with this team that great drivers like Jim Clark and Emerson Fittipaldi had taken their finest victories. One can sense this, in a way; Senna "beams out" joy and happiness!

Mikael,
Very well put, he looks a different guy back then and for me that was when think he was at his very best, sort of unaffected by all the politics which so riled him later in his career. He was the archetypical Lotus driver in my opinion, and over the years I had forgotten how much I was a fan of Ayrton, just looking through my own photo archive one can now see he was predominant in who I actually took photos of.

I am becoming obsessed by the 1985 season and thanks to all of YouTubes recommendations I have come across yet another wonderful little film about Team Lotus in 1985 with Gerard Ducarouge being a main player. I don't think I have ever heard Elio's voice before and also another lovely little cameo of him playing the piano, of which I believe he was a master almost concert level. Also seeing Ayrton displaying his kitchen skills is something to behold.
