The concept is even older: 1954 Corvette prototype Yes of course, the fin is much older. I would like to have a street legal version of that 1930 Bluebird. Parking might be a thingy but you do stand out.

I have just come across a fascinating story about the Lotus 66, checking through my books on Lotus and Colin Chapman the only reference I can find is in Jabby's book which says 'not disclosed' however that is no longer the case: I wish I could attach some photo's and perhaps I can find a way to transfer them from a microsoft article but Clive Chapman has built the Lotus 66, a Can-Am 830 bhp car, that Colin commissioned in 1970 and had drawings and models drawn up but went no further with it. It looks brilliant in its red and gold colours and Emmo was present at the launch as he was down in 1971 to drive it.
It was launched at the Monterey Car week and it looks brilliant, 10 will be built at a £1,000,0000 each, ahhh

Maybe Chapman went no further because he was haunted by his previous big bore sports racing experiences. Resembling a McLaren M8F except for the front intakes and enclosed single seat, had it been fast, the Lotus 66 would have given Team McLaren a real challenge and possibly forestalled Penske and Porsche's series ending 917-10 and 917-30.
Cheers, Carl
