Race One of the so-called double header in Austria. Max excelled in the last two races at this circuit so expect him to be very strong again this weekend. Dietrich Mateschitz will be close by to watch his cars as this is the ‘home race’ for Red Bull. But Mercedes will do everything in their power to take the initiative back and outscore Red Bull. This will be fascinating. The Red Bull Ring is a short circuit so the gaps in qualifying will be small but what will the picture be on Sunday? Can the other teams stay closer and maybe go for a podium? Bring it on!

Got to be Max hasn't it, pile on the pressure to MB and watch Tonto crack.
Would really wish to see Charles and Carlos have the sort of performance displayed in 2019 but no hope of that sadly.
Maybe Norris will get a surprise podium for McLaren and that would be good.

A copybook win for Max and Red Bull. Not the most exciting race but the Mercedes dominance is broken, no question. Two more laps and Checo could have finished third.
Lonely race for Lando Norris but a strong result. The gap to Daniel is becoming a bit painful by now. What could it be that Daniel has so much problems to adjust? He sounded down and insecure on the radio also.
And actually not a bad race for Ferrari, relatively. Their race pace was really good, a lot better than in France, and they could have fought Norris had they started in a better position. Leclerc was brilliant again after that first lap incident and was a joy to follow through the race. Solid race for Carlos.
Same circuit next week so Max must be the big favorite again.

Indeed a faultless race from Max, completely in charge from the beginning. Such a shame one reads of the sniping from the crestfallen Mercedes Benz team, who seem unable to accept that another team might actually be better than them and that is directed at you Tonto and Lewis.
I only watched the opening phase out the corner of my eye as I was more interested in the action from Oulton Park and British Superbikes. Therefore I only saw a little of the first lap where it appears that Charles upset some folk with his robust driving, something that Croft just could not allow himself to let go of in his inane commentary. If the authorities found nothing to charge Charles with, then let it go chap.
I know for a fact that DSJ would not have made anything of it, just hard racing in the scramble that is the first few corners of any race. I did think his "chop" of Kimi was a bit rude, but I have seen worse go unpunished. Other than that it was an outstanding drive from Charles Leclerc, just a travesty that he doesn't have a car comparable with Max then we would see some real racing.
I have to say that Carlos Sainz was equally impressive and if he hadn't got held up by Hamilton I am certain he would have been challenging his buddy Lando Norris.
Another outstanding drive from George Russell which was halted by mechanical issues, so unfair on this young man who deserves to be in a much better car and challenging for wins.
I also thought Kimi drove a superb race after a poor qualifying session, totally eclipsing his young team mate who has been doing much better of late.

I watched the brief highlights on youtub - was forced to turn the sound off after 30 seconds due to the commentators hysterics, it seemed a good race and a mature drive from Max, Nando who is featured in this months MS was impressive and sympathies to Daniel and George, it would be so good for Williams if he got some points on the board, better luck next time,

Martin Brundle was prompted to ask whether he also believed in the tooth fairy and Easter Bunny.

Carl, Don't mock, I have for years used the relative activity of bovines to determine my weather . On one occasion going to the 1983 Belgian GP via some useless coach operator we travelled into the Ardenne and the cows were all in what we call the cush position (like a sphinx) and I said to me friend who accompanied me, "its going to be wet today". Sure enough as we stepped out of the coach on the hill above La Source the rain began to fall, it turned out to be one of the wettest days at a race I have been to. Others dismiss the theory of cows laying down as a sign of rain coming, they dismiss it at their peril . John

John John, I was concerned as I wrote about expert contradiction and so stand (or recline) corrected, but wonder if cows at times may respond to a rain-bearing cold front and recline to stay warm. Nonetheless, as a boy I spent many happy weeks on my grandfather's dairy farm and can honestly say that whoever looks a cow in the eye has to respect their good sense. -Carl
