While viewing todays WSB race from Misano I have noticed that Eurosport are showing extensive coverage of the Le Mans 24 Hour Moto race. Therefore I have tuned in and it is a superb event so far with scorching temperatures which we are all experiencing in Northern France right now, to get even hooter one the next few days.
So far the Yoshimira Suzuki is leading the way and it has been an impressive 24 hour debut for the sublime Sylvain Guintoli the former WSB Champion and now Suzuki MotoGP development rider. The man is absolute class with a smooth buttery style that makes the gymnastics of some MotoGP riders look just that.
Endurance motorcycle racing is now a very big and the factory supported teams take this as seriously as they do MotoGP and WSB.
It is wonderful to see the Suzuki GSXR1000 leading the way as these machines have been so iconic in super bike history, and the current model is such a good motorcycle. However Suzuki seem disinterested in WSB at present which is such a shame.

I haven't caught up with it as yet and it really is growing in stature and admiration,
not sure why Suzuki aren't playing in WSB, they are in BSB and the two Brits are going really well, Danny calling it a missile, so maybe they will re-consider

The Le Mans 24 Hour Moto was a superb event brilliantly covered by British Eurosport. The weather was absolutely stunning and such a change from the meeting which is normally run in cold wet conditions, this year run at a later date which was far more sensible.
A great win for the Yoshimura Suzuki Team, their GSXR1000 ran like clockwork and was ridden beautifully by all three riders, and the sublime Sylvain Guintoli won his first 24 hour endurance race after making starring stints.
It is interesting to note that the endurance teams tend to select mature experienced riders who are not only fast but not prone to throwing the bike down the road. I noticed a lot of guys who a few years ago were racing in series like Moto2 and WSB now in the top teams; 42 year old David Checa being one who is still very competitive.
Apparently the top British Suzuki Endurance team was due to race with Danny Kent and Luke Mossey aboard but due to the UK's quarantine regulations currently in place they could not waste 10 days upon their return from France. shame as they could have done well.
The Eurosport commentary team did long stints in the box themselves as they do for the car meeting on Radio Le Mans. It was great to have Jack Burnacle in the box and with Eurosport regular Carlton Kirby they formed a superb and very humorous duo in the early hours on Sunday morning. Good also to see young Taylor McKenzie doing some commentary work; good too.
