Last night I had a really weird experience!
My wife and I went for an evening walk with the dog and when we walked on a small country road between two meadows a few hundred metres from our house, my wife said "what's that?" and pointed at the sky. It was a clear night with lots of stars but it seemed like the sky was moving. We saw a train of 'stars' moving in the sky and it was impossible to judge the distance. Their size and intensity seemed the same as the surrounding stars which made it extra weird.
We were not immediately convinced of extraterrestrial life so we thought of drones but there was no noise. And then my wife said she remembered reading an article about Elon Musk and 'moving stars' a while back. After the walk we looked it up and of course that is what it was. A train of satellites orbiting the earth as part of a new satellite network for superior worldwide internet connection. You can read all about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink
But man, that was a weird experience if you don't expect it and don't know immediately what you are seeing.

Thanks René, That is amazing! and something brand new to me, somewhat weird and scary, and equally as impressive as the International Space Station (orbiting 260 miles high @17,500 mph) which NASA's website enables the earthbound to see. spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/index.cfm
This network of satellites could be more evidence, as many suspect, that Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are aliens sent to our planet as punishment for transgressions on their own... -Carl

It was scary guys and in a way it still is. The idea alone that these things are orbiting the earth and the plan is to have thousands of those up there, that is also weird and scary. It was a really strange experience and what a coincidence that we saw them. Five minutes earlier or later and we would probably have missed them.

it certainly was an experience Rene, one that reinforces what a visionary George Orwell really was

What an amazing thing to have experienced René and many thanks for the story and the YouTube film. It is somewhat disconcerting to think all that "junk" is being put up into space, especially with he news yesterday about the Chinese rocket that is going to crash back to earth and no one has a clue as to where. On a lighthearted note that film of the "space trucking" satellites reminded me of the Christmas Coca Cola TV advert of a few years ago with the very long "Road Train" travelling towards the viewer in the dark . It also reminds me of times back in the 1990's pre-internet when as dusk began to descend and with clear sky one could see this bright light to the west some way above the horizon. I often wondered as to what it was but pre-internet discovery of such things was more limited. A friend once said it was the planet Jupiter, however I now believe it to be the Space Station and it can still be seen to this day.
